Working Leads

WTF!!! how does this go from a thread about working leads to an argument about whats he promoting?

I dont give a *^%$ about what he's promoting. It was a Question about working Leads...

I joined to discuss the insurance industry this is starting to sound like those *** reality shows. maybe we should call this JERSEY insurance agents.

maybe another site needs to be started that prohibits this type of behavior and have some principals on being professional.

Excuse you. All I did was ask a question about what he was promoting and *he* got very hostile. I might add that I've responded to your original question (and I believe others) before I asked him anything.

If you want to go to a forum that has a reputation for ruling with a heavy hand I suggest you visit topgunproducers.com. I've never been there, but from what I understand it sounds like the type of forum you would appreciate.

What on earth is so horrifically offensive about asking someone what they're here to promote and why has it invited such hostility from you?

Just about everything here is fair game. On most of the threads you've been starting/participating on I think you've had some pretty good advice, obviously along withs some comments from the peanut gallery. Although I would think it overkill, you can go into your user settings and put people on ignore so you won't have to see what they post.

Best of luck working your leads!

I joined this month and have been reading the post wow is all i can say.

It's very frustrating... I have spent two wks late nights and early mornings trying to get good sound advice from this site.

I would have been better off practicing my rebuttals and presentations.

With an attitude like that you're probably better off doing just about anything.

With this site, like just about everything else in life, you're going to get some bad with the good. You've asked some very specific questions and received some pretty specific and helpful comments along with some junk. Some of the truly helpful advice has probably been put in a less than friendly way, but that doesn't change the truth of it.

Feel free to call this site a waste of time and be upset with the answers your getting and ignore it altogether. The truth is that it's just like your lead cards, some are great, some are terrible, and it takes time to sort them out.

Best of luck!

Well said Josh. I've been reading this site for a few months. There are bunches of gems throughout most of the threads. So, one can chose to focus on the junk or the gems.

You didn't just ask a question, you made an assumption and what appeared to be insinuation!

If you were just curious about the possibility of me promoting something and simply wanted to know what it might be out of "curiosity" as you put it, then you should have worded your question differently!

"Just curious are you promoting anything?" or "I read your thread about "flip chart" vs. "fact finder" presentations, just curious, do you have a fact-finder presentation that you are promoting or that you wish to share" or " I noticed that you have been posting a lot recently and I haven't seem you around here before, just curious are you promoting anything? etc.

btw: Upon looking at your at your signature, one would think that you should probably be the last person asking that question?

There are Gems i will agree...but why water it down with nonsense...

Part of the reason why there are gems is because just about anyone can come here and post anything they want, but that's the same reason you get the nonsense.

On the plus side, it really is a good BS meter. The "nonsense" has helped people save thousands of dollars they would have spent on bad leads, wasted time with bogus recruiters, bad products, etc.

Overall it's really a pretty good crowd.

This forum has been invaluable to my business. I have learned so much here and made too many contacts to even count. I have a better business today and am a beter agent today because of this forum and people I met through this forum.

You will get what you put in. The reason people ask about waht a person is pushing is because it usually comes down to those marketeres are not the ones that you do gain useful advice from. They spout of recruiting one liners with no substance.

it doesn't take long to sort through that stuff. Some people are way too thin skinned to post here but those people are simply to thin skinned to last in this business as well.

Since you just joined you did not get the opportunity to converse with Frank Statsny. He was a wealth of information. His posts are still here if you wanted to take some time and go back through the archives and glean some wisdom.

It's not that people don't have a right to ask that question, it's how they ask the question!

Come on love, it looks like you're here to pitch something so I asked a question. I wasn't being hostile about anything, but it seems to have struck a nerve.

If you were just curious about the possibility of me promoting something and simply wanted to know what it might be out of "curiosity" as you put it, then you should have worded your question differently!

Let's review the facts. I asked "What are you here to promote?"

Nothing nefarious, nothing hostile, just asked what you were here to promote. You said you didn't understand the question so I went along with it and gave you more information about where it was coming from... then you got nasty. It really and truly is just curiosity. I've seen tons of folks come on here to promote things and based on the way you've been posting it really seems like your biding your time until you promote whatever it is you're here to promote. I was doing you a favor by asking because it gave you a perfectly reasonable opportunity to answer the question and not be accused of spamming. Instead, you've chosen to get nasty with me. Too bad.

Going back to my question, what was so nasty about my asking what you were here to promote?

As I stated earlier, there is nothing wrong with being here to promote something. I was an active member on this forum for a while before I started selling my lists, but there are plenty of folks that come here for no reason other than to promote their product/service. Some of them play by the rules and build a good name for themselves (Radius and Hometown Quotes come to mind). You're assuming that I'm being critical of the fact that you're here to promote something, but again, I was giving you a perfectly legitimate opportunity to open up about what you're here to promote without being accused of spamming the forum. Instead, you've chosen to get nasty with me.

Want to start again?

What are you here to promote?
