2008 Lead Company Update

Very true - it would be a call to Stacy to find out how many other agents have signed up for that in your state. I've found Stacy great to work with in the past so I doubt he'd give anyone a bull answer.

Leadco does not advertise heavily or very "Deep" on Google or Yahoo for the Major Search Terms, and No Organic, so it tells me that most of the leads are Affliate generated, Which is not a bad thing for some vendors, but I think that is why most of you are complaining of the massive return issue, and low economical status of most of the leads.

Now that agents have tools like Norvax the lead companies should let agents bid for the redirect - give Ehealth a little challenge.

Right now Ehealth pays "X" amount to the lead companies to direct prospects to their site. I say open the bidding. Some larger agencies - like the one TX runs, may like to get in on that kind of action.

I seriously doubt ANYONE has the guns to "outbid" ehealth. They spend
$2,450,000 per MONTH on marketing and advertising.

Trying to play in that game without some real deep pockets is a recipe for disaster.

Stacey swears he does not use affiliates...ever! Maybe that has changed.

It's more about how much they're spending per lead - and we can't get crazy; Ehealth cannot spend more than "X" amount per lead or their profits tank.

So say a lead costs me $7 but Ehealth is paying $12 for the redirect. Why can't I offer $13 for my state?

You're thinking of it in terms of small, one agent shops. ehealth is in a whole other stata. They have the scalability and muscle to demand quantity discounts...for all 50 states.

Off 84 million in revenue, they took 24 million (or 29%!) to the bottom line in operating income - even spending about 31 million for marketing and sales. They've got plenty of room to spend more on leads!

Believe me, they're not thinking small as in "how much does a lead cost me." If you're paying $7 - they're paying $3 - maybe less. They only look at it as to how much as a percentage of revenue they have to spend to keep the top line growing. It's an investment.

One man shops, and even bigger operations like TX are less than a pimple on their ass.

Never used Leadco but noticed they have a new website dumping the junk
Unlimited Health Insurance Leads - Unlimited Health Prospects

These leads are the ones that they could net sell (excess leads) to the regular brokers. Each state will vary in quantity, but it is estimated that 30% of the leads will be insurable.

Also...there is no limit on the number of brokers per state that can sign up. Two, or twenty...whoever signs up, gets that state's leads.

If you have a Norvax or Quotit system, it might be worth a shot. Since I don't, I'll pass.

Interesting. So effectively there is no limit of agents that they will sell the lead to. If I buy the lead from leadco, but it still has agent capacity, they move it out to here, I'm screwed. I could deal with this if the initial deal was they would sell it no more than 4 times, they only sold it twice to available agents, so they give it to 2 more agents on the 'all you can eat' plan. But it sounds like if there are 30 agents on this plan, the lead now is sold 32 times. OUCH!

Thanks, I think I'll pass.

Dan

P.S. Internet leads are a tough gig, both for the agent and the lead provider. I don't begrudge lead companies trying to make a $$$, just hate the customer yelling at me to 'quit calling me', when it's obvious the lead has been massively oversold.

obvious the lead has been massively oversold.

Not necessarily . . .

Could be the lead was sold to a phone mill that calls 50x until they get a yes.

More often than not I hear that complaint. All the calls are from out of state and they call multiple times during the day.
