2008 Lead Company Update

TXInsurance just seems a little paranoid. glad to know my competition. Chumps, pardon me for WORKING and not spending all of my time on here. I spend enough to keep up, but no more. I guess my 1 WHOLE DAY delay was too much for you to handle.

My web site address...you wish. We are based in Texas and write in 5+ states, primarily in the south. 90% of our online business is done outside of the state of Texas. Internet leads make way too much sense. That should be enough to keep you guessing.

You are right about something...I USED to be in the leads business. I worked for one of the companies you bash so frequently on here for almost 3 years. It is where I cut my teeth in the business. I still maintain many friendships at the company.

So you guys can say all you want about many of these companies. There are a few fly by night companies out there. They ARE scams. But REALLY, the ones that have been around for years like InsureMe, HometownQuotes, NetQuote, InsWeb, even Vimo...they AREN'T SCAMS people.

Maybe you don't like their business model, fine. Maybe you spent all of $200 and didn't write any business. As on guy on here said earlier in the thread...it pays to stay. We spend more than on leads before some of you get up for breakfast. And somehow it seems to be working great for us.

Every company has it's pluses and minuses. It just boggles my mind why you spend so much time and energy bitching and moaning about such stupid stuff and claiming these companies are a scam when they all make more money, have more employees, and more class than someone like TXInsurance and a handful of the others.

Go take a look sometime at the charity work and donations that are made by Hometownquotes and Insureme (and I am sure some others). Go read about all the awards that companies like that win and then tell me if you stll think they are a scam. Scams don't win awards retard. Scams don't perform charity work that is genuine. Scams are not profiled by major business magazines year after year. When was the last time you were? I thought so.

I could care less what you do this market is so huge it doesn't make an ounce of difference. I have said this over and over again the competition is very limited due to the market size. I sincerely wish you (and everyone) best of luck as it has little (if any) impact on my business due to market size.

I am not sure why you found it necessary to attack me based on my HTQ reference where they locked out my account, refused my calls, and lied to my credit card company - but they did donate to Jerrys Kids so I should have over looked everything.

I do not know you and did not reference you at all, I find this response to really be inappropriate, as others will see as well.

I am also not going to argue about who buys more leads, who sells more, whos car is faster, or whos house is bigger. I hope you do write more business than me - although that is a tall order, that would be great.

Relax a little... jeeze....

Lancealot, you bring up a very good point here!

Enron donated money to Prince Charles' charity Prince's Trust spokeswoman Rachel Faulkner said Enron donated £500,000 in 1991for projects over five years and another £300,000 in three equal instalments from 1996, the last of which was paid in 1999.

:D

Lancealot, you are right. The market it huge. So big in fact, that a good agent shouldn't be worried about operations like yours, Health Benefits Direct, eHealthinsurance or others. There is so much business to go around that there is no reason for any of us to starve if you plan your work and work your plan.

As has been discussed before in this forum, the only thing that really matters (on the business side) is ROI.

Either you are making it or you aren't.

If you aren't, you need to change your model or get out of the business.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Lance isn't all what he claims to be. It's funny that virtually every poster that has a website, proudly advertises it.

And my gosh....TX simply gives his insight on his experience with HTQ...and Lance throws a hissy fit. What a tool!

Not like I'm trying to throw fuel on the fire...but...I'll do it anyways;). Yesterday I got 3 leads in one day (wow) from Hometown Quotes, all 3 were uninsureable (preggies). I got pissed and sent them all back for credit threatening to cancel my subscription and guess what? Drum roll please....they were all credited within the hour. Talk about an about face. Comments? Discuss...

I have used HTQ for close to 2 yrs and have fewer complaints about them than others (and I have used almost all of them).

I can't say what kind of territory you are working, but I use the entire state of GA. Got 19 leads in yesterday.

Some are credited in 24 hours, others take a bit longer.

My ROI is better with them than any other vendor.

Territory also has a lot to do with competition. Jesse up in CT does absolutely fantastic with shared leads but I don't think there's a lot of competitors up there either - Connecticare and BX are the most competitive which is most of what he sells. Call centers really can't compete with that.

I used to have some sources which claimed I was one of 4 agents calling, however it was just me and one other person. Same lead source in another state had all 4 agents calling.

Submitting "fake" info to find out who your competitors are should never be necessary, but a lot of lead companies simply refuse to disclose who else is getting the lead.

I don't agree - I think I have a right to know in advance who I'll be going up against and how many agents I'm going up against before I purchase.

You get a good lead source where it's just you, a discount card company and one other out of state agent and you can tear it up.

When you can't tear it up is when 5 or more other agents/agencies are calling, two of which are call centers, then the Eheatlh re-direct and two other local agents.

After about two years HTQ is still with me, not so for many others. The biggest reason is crediting policy. I have found them to be the easiest to work with on bogus leads. I think they've been reasonable and that's all I ask. I have had some unusal situations arise where they haven't dug their heels in. In my area, someone has found that entering a person into a quote request engine is far better than ordering a pizza delivery in their name. One poor guy has had over 100 calls in a day because a co worker put him in just about every program out there.
