All this talk about the debt ceiling.

Honestly, I might be lying to myself.

My whole life philosophy has changed quite a bit and how I spend money has changed too. I'm buying a lot more hard assets, and just building reserves.

So, you are putting more money into Whole Life now?

I do a lot of things that people that swear I'm a lefty would be surprised by...

I'm not an insane prepper or anything, but I keep enough food, water (even though we have a well), fuel, and money on hand to survive if something went down where we had another lock down situation.

Covid lock downs really woke me up about stuff. I didn't have a hard time or anything, but there were a number of news stories that really taught me that people are not rationale when maybe they should be.

I'm personally not against the COVID precautions, and take that as you will, but people have very poor reactions in hording.

Next my goal is to go 100% solar because our power grid is questionable, at best.

Like I said, I'm not a weirdo or anything, but an ounce of prevention is always worthwhile... and if I don't have to pay an energy bill at the same time, I'm pretty happy.

Pandemic was an eye opener until now.

I do own a small amount of whole life, between my wife, my inlaws and myself. I just bought another 500k in Term last year.

I've looked at LEAP, Infinity Banking, etc... and it doesn't really solve the problem and creates more risk, imo.

Namely, every time I try to be fancy with using things outside of their original intent, I get burned. So I just don't do it.

I disagree. Everything from today can be traced back to the Covid issue as a acceleration of a broken system. I don't want to hijack a thread more than I already have, but just in MI I could tell you at least two news stories off the top of my head that really changed my perspective about society.

People are always looking for someone to blame, and I think we would be better off as a society if we just started owning our own shit and doing things to improve or rebuke those things that aren't for the greater good.

Eggs... has anyone seen the price of eggs lately??

Did anyone remember how cheep eggs were not so long ago?

Now there's an economic lesson for you right under your nose, unless you're the chicken, then it's under your butt.

In a full on economic crash, food will be king once again, as it has since time began. This leaves those with "layers" producing the "hard" assets that will matter the most. Then, as those hard asset producing layers die off, they turn into golden nuggets, dipping sauce of your choice.
Hmmm... just a thought.

No mention of the 50 million+ hens culled due to avian flu. This is why eggs are expensive right now.
