Bankers Life and Casualty?

Re: bankers casualty and life

A few weeks back I applied, interviewed and got hired by Banker's. I had been wanting to get into Insurance Sales for a long time. I just had my licensing exam on Saturday (passed with flying colors) and will be licensed soon (booyaa!).

Anyways, I told my dad that I had been hired by Banker's (he is a former independent agent and was in the business for a long time). He said if I go work for Banker's he'd disown me!! He said he'd train me and that being independent is much better than working for a lousy company like that.

So after taking his advice and doing research on Banker's L&C, I have decided to not go work for them. I'm not sure I've ever seen a positive write up about them. Aren't they a B+ company?

Good for you. Smart move! Smart Dad!

Re: bankers casualty and life

I personally have had no dealings with Banker's, but do know of someone who did. They hired her, gave her the study material to take the test. She took the test at her expense and passed. Her day consisted of sitting in a cube and dialing for dollars. She did get sell a few policies, but decided to quit. Approximately 4 months after she quit she received a letter stating that she owed over $1000 in charge backs. She made a few calls and was told by another agent from Bankers that she was friends with that other agents were given her client list and they went and convinced their policies and were re-written under the new agent. (This is not confirmed, only her say so) If it is true, this would not be a office that I would want to work in.

Good luck.

Re: bankers casualty and life

I had done no research on BL before my interviews. First was a group interview where the branch manager went over the millions (or was it billions) of dollars we'll all certainly make each week. "Sell 3 policies a week, you'll make $1650". Sounds easy, right? Did to a newbie sucker like myself!

So I come back the next day for my interview. Dude asks me some softball questions. Offered me the job 15 minutes later. I barely told him much about myself. I could be a bank robber for all they know. I could be anyone really. He seemed to like all of my answers to his questions. Well, yeah.....he lobbed me softballs! Still, I thought it was great that they offered me the job right there.

So then I did some research online and I'm not sure I've seen anything positive from current or former Banker's agents. That's not a good sign. I see the same type of comments from agents at all Banker's locations. Doesn't matter if they're from Banker's in New Jersey, Florida, Iowa, or California. It's all the same. Everything they said about their interviewing process was the same as it went for me.

Re: bankers casualty and life

thanks everyone. I just want some training and then go on my own. would it be better to just join john's training course for 19.95 per month? Or is that enough with zero experience like me

Re: bankers casualty and life

Why not market simple issue whole life policies over the phone / net while you learn the ropes?

A $75 per month Life policy (Final Expense) could net you around $500 at a low commission rate, and you would get paid in less than 7 days?

Sell one or two a week while learning the biz - then either sell more of the same and increase your commission % OR move on to whatever insurance product turns you on.

Good Luck!

Man I'd hate this.

Re: bankers casualty and life

If I were brand spanking new at this and didn't even have my license yet, the first person on this board I would talk to would be healthagent before I made any decisions.

He has been helping agents with the health insurance business for several years.

Ahemmmm. No disrepect here to healthagent. You are correct if you are speaking of HEALTH sales however....annuities, disability, medicare, LTC...not so much or at all. The inquiry is about Bankers Life -they don't sell health.
