So I submitted my first app with Columbian for COPD. They declined it for COPD lol. I called UW and they said they don't want people with COPD on the New Century product.

I said, "The question reads..." And he cuts me off. Says he knows how the question reads and it's horrible and should be amended.

So Columbian WILL NOT take people with COPD. I think all we are left with is Assurity if not on O2, Mon Std and UHL if no treatment at all...:1mad:

I know how the question reads as I have written it. How did the underwriter become aware of the COPD? I am asking as I read the question to be..."COPD requiring the use of oxygen" thank God that the case I wrote is over 2 years old!

I write as little with them now as I can. Between the 3 companies or however many there are now, they all have different underwriting...commission schedules and pay out dates. Interesting about the underwriter saying NO. Did you submit the app?

I submitted. I was a dummy and put in the agent notes "Has COPD but no O2 use." It was a trial run really to see if it would fly. I put him Assurity and it was a few bucks cheaper and they really don't care. I called and asked UW and they said COPD with no O2 is level.

It is easier for a company to say no at the time of application. They just need something to stand on, anything will do. To rescind, they have to show that a question was answered incorrectly.

So it would behoove the underwriter to decline anyone with COPD, no matter how the question is written. Because after issue, they can be held to the wording of the question.

They have the most confusing commission schedule I have ever seen. Depending on which Columbian company you are writing with it varies. For instance, with Syracuse if you have a policy lapse in the first year....they charge back unpaid advances however on the anniversary date there is another charge back for the case not renewing. With the Binghamton company totally different. With the "final expense" Norcross company I have no idea.

I gave up!

Haha Good luck.

So who would take a COPD on O2...would Monu?? or high risk companies like Kemper. Got a few prospects with bad health.

5 star graded I think if they use O2 less than twice a week. I've yet to find a COPD patient on O2 that doesn't use it every day.
