Finally...Some Good News!

I don't think the bill will come close to passing as is. We really haven't heard anything from the insurance companies either, not even a peep. Wouldn't you figure they would ban together and propose a few ideas for an alternative plan? Republican's proposed anything?

Seems this bill is a hostile takeover of the industry. Anyone read figures on how many jobs might be lost if it's passed?

The insurance carries have been in cahoots with the government to try to get a universal mandate so that they will allegedly get a windfall. This may or may not happen but it keeps them somewhat in a precarious situation because they dont know whether to continue to support it or to jump ship and oppose it if it looks like their goodies will not happen. We saw that with the AMA too where they went through a phase of supporting it, now they are not. On one hand, the AMA would love to have a major new source of reimbursement come into the system. Except that all falls apart as they begin to see what the reimbursement rates are. They are about to go from being doctors to being "health care workers" as they are in the UK.

Actually, in a roundabout way, I think the lack of insurance carrier opposition has been helpful. Obama would dearly love to be able to point to all the insurance carriers spending big bucks to kill his project. The reality is that the program is sputtering from opposition within his own party, from opposition from the Congressional Budget Office, and from growing evidence that his stimulus projections were a crock so therefore, most likely, his health care cost projections are also a crock.

Spending our way to prosperity.

The CEO of one company I represent was invited to be a part of the discussion roundtables in Washington since the beginning of all this. He sent out an email on friday expressing how many "deals trying to be cut" that are circulating between Obama's gang saying it's just ridiculous. I went on the AMA website and they're still in support of HR 3200, posted right on the front page.

I read though the bill and it states they would kill HSA options also. So much for the promises of competition! The lies so far from this puppet are amazing!

One thing that is absolutely guaranteed to happen under health care reform is this. The cost of insurance will rise precipitously. It doesn't matter if you buy from a carrier or the government.

Based on what I read, expect at least a 150% increase in premiums.

Smaller cars, bigger health insurance, Poppa Washington.
