For those of you using NORVAX...

Quotit also has an auto-responder. Make sure to compare before buying any quoting and proposal service!!!!
Most seem to think Quotit has a superior product with little comparative downside.

Question For Norvax Or Quotit Owners...

I haven't bitten the bullet yet, but I am getting close. It is clear that each company wants your business, and is willing to freely negotiate prices. Norvax continues to offer big discounts at this time.

OK...Here's the question. A lead comes in and you notice that they are 6-0 260. Not uninsurable, but clearly a "standard" (or below) risk.

The quote engines will throw out the preferred rate. Or will they? Do they automatically adjust rates for height/weight?

And if they don't...do you send the quote anyway with a caveat?

And finally...suppose you have two separate websites. Perhaps one is for one state and one for another. Do you have to pay double the fee or can Norvax or Quotit give you their quote engine for both websites at the cost of just one?

Thanks.

Re: Question For Norvax Or Quotit Owners...

I do not use Norvax to generate leads through my website. I use it as a tool so I can compare plans and rates when I'm on the phone with a prospect.

Good question - when I'm on the phone the 1st thing I do is a prescreen. If I determine they're going to get rated I'll use one of two options depending on the scenario:

1) Still take them to my Norvax page (invitation - do a desktop share) and simply explain that they will have to add "x" amount to what they're seeing.

2) On a desktop share take them to the individual carrier's link and apply the proper class - choose standard 2 if it's GR or do a desktop share when I'm in my Assurant agent site and build the quote with the load included

It's why I like using desktop sharing since I can navigate around without telling them to "click on this" or "no...it's the 5th plan down....see it?"

It's also pretty nice to run a doctor search while they watch.

I think arguing about Norvax vs Quotit is like arguing between a Benz and Beemer - which is the better car. They both get you to work in style, they both don't perform too well if they're sitting in the garage while you're playing Nintendo.

Re: Question For Norvax Or Quotit Owners...

Both quote engines have the ability to import leads from SELECT vendors. Norvax has the upper hand here as they work with more carriers and lead vendors on the retail side and have been doing it longer.

Neither quote engine "screens" your leads to kick out standard rates vs. preferred. Neither do they adjust quotes for Rx or listed medical conditions.

The quote engine is a starting point. What happens from there is up to you and determines your success in competing with eHealth and other marketers who simply quote preferred for everyone and submit the app without pre-screening with the client.

Here is a clue.

If you send out "true" rates and your prospect is looking at preferred rates from other sources, you will not even get in the game.

Preferred rates from quote engines are like teaser mortgage rates. The 4.5% rates are heavily advertised but few can qualify for that rate.

Quote engines are good time savers and I do write a handful of policies per year that I would not otherwise. I especially like the ability to illustrate plans side by side.

The visual presentation is one area where I feel Quotit has a leg up.

With both engines you pay a fee per state. Only if you are running 5 or more states do you get a price break (at least that is what I recall). Unless you are heavily marketing in more than one state there is no reason to expand beyond your home state.

Quotit seems to have more carriers on board in the western and southern states. They are gradually expanding their retail side into midwestern and northeastern states. The key for you may be which engine has the carriers you need vs. the features.

When I converted to a quote engine 2 yrs ago I preferred Quotit (for the "feel") over Norvax. But at that time Norvax was my only real option unless I only wanted to show BX.

I am told that Quotit will have Coventry in about a month. (Norvax supposedly has them already). As it stands now, I can show Aetna, BX, Celtic, GR, Humana, KP and Time. I really don't have a need for anyone else but it will be nice to at least show Coventry when the time comes.

Re: Question For Norvax Or Quotit Owners...

My 3 cents worth:
If you let clients generate their own quotes, you're asking for more trouble than it is worth.

The problem with the PFD rates is just the beginning.

It takes 3 times as long to "un-sell" someone who has applied for PFD rates when the policy comes back STD or rated (or ridered) as it does to pre-sell them in the first place.

I gave that norvax engine a test-drive on one of my sites and just got frustrated as hell with it. Now we generate our own quotes sent direct to clients AFTER pre-screening them via phone.

You just want numbers? Fine. Go to ehealth. And good luck, my friend. (that's my standard schpill with those price shoppers who think buying health insurance is the equivalent of buying a new plasma tv)
