Full Color Med Sup Mailer with Graphics

Unfortunately the nicer the card the lower the response. You would think even though your responses are lower that they would be better qualified leads. Nope

Stay generic

Chazm,

what is your experience with this? Specifically what products where you selling with the "nicer mailer" that had a lower response? Can you give a little more detail?

when i run full disclosure mailers from carriers, i get more qualified "yes's". if it has a rate on it for a plan F, they aren't going to fill it out to "see what it's all about".

I like doing generic, and then a month or two later, follow it up with a carrier specific piece. Some will respond to one type, some to the other, but people with state benefits, retiree plans, won't respond to a med supp piece with a price on it. those people respond to vague pieces all the time...But definitely don't expect the same response with a specific piece. i usually get back 5/1000 on a carrier specific piece

I only mail to T65's for med supps. I always use generic mailers for "open enrollment" but twice in the last 3 months I have a company that sends out a nice colorful one that has good info on it. It has three ways to respond, a 888 number to call, my website or reply card. I got back about 1% both times and during that time my generic mailer got 4% and 3%. And I was able to sell more on my generic cards

oh yeah, good point on the t-65. have done full disclosure with the cheapest company in nc, and it was a waste for t-65. and I'll outsell with a generic lead any day of the week...

I agree, the less in formation the better. The card im going to send out is going say almost exactly the same thing as the generic black n white post card ive already been sending. its just going to be livened up a bit with color and graphics. I uploaded a very rough draft in one of my other posts on this thread.

What kind of information was on the card you sentthat got the 1%? did it mention plans, prices or any specifics?

It's too specific as in they know that they will be contacting an insurance agent to talk about their options. The problem is, the letter is trying to sell them on talking with an agent. I don't want that. My generic cards just say that they are in open enrollment and to fill out the card for more info. I sell the appointment, not the card.

Sent from my iPad using InsForums

That was a very rough draft... This one is closer to the finished product. Just a few changes to the wording at thats about it. Its very simple and it has a clear call to action that does not involve speaking with an agent. Whatcha think?:GEEK:

Get the free ones from Mutual of omaha...get a list of 300 people....mail them the same card every 10 days (3 mailings) then cold call them. If you wait on them to call you, someone like me will have already sold them.....;)
I'm looking to use the MoO/UoO free ones to send to folks on the DNC list. (I get a scrubbed list of T-65 from a different carrier, some DNC, some not)

Can I expect 1%-2% return? Seems like throwing money away on postage if not...

If I were working leads on the DNC list I would mail them 2 or 3 cards then go knock on their door so they can meet that fantastic insurance guy thats going to save them money and give them excellent service. Again, don't just mail the cards and wait...they arent going to call you....mail them a couple of cards and go knock on their door. I quit doing mailings in the city a couple of years ago.....Rural only for Med Supps......You will drive yourself nuts knocking on doors of folks who have MA plans.

One more thing. At this stage in the game I'm really tired of driving all over the country-with insurance and my other "Full Time" job as a Painting Contractor for the last 20 years. Once the snow flies this year I'm really considering selling Med Supps over the phone and doing biz through the mail. (I not sure Seniors are ready to do the internet apps). Cold calling rural areas.....finding out which companies have the best rates for every little pocket of the state. I have sold a few this way and it seems to work out well. As I've said before, if a stockbroker in a boiler room in Miami can sell investments over the phone to Jane Doe in Seattle, I believe I can sell a med supp to a farmer 3 hours down the road over the phone.
