Got My Site Launched

It's highway robbery but attorneys don't really care. They see all these other attorneys with nice websites and they want one too. They don't care anyway---it's a write-off.

Had to post this here...

So I'm doing a website for a family members legal practice. She wants something clean/basic that her clients can visit. So I started doing some research into what her colleagues have done. I came across a lawyer that specializes in Family Law just like my relative. While scanning it over I noticed that the designer left their link at the bottom. Here is the site:

Portfolio | Law Firm Marketing | Law firm web design | Attorney web site | Legal marketing | Best law firm website | Conroy Consults

Go ahead and click thru to some of their work. For those of you that are claiming a $499 wordpress install is some sort of "scam", please explain what you would call this?

HAHAHA :D $499 scam..The agents who are saying this probably also think anything else but term is a scam. I mean it costs money right ;)

Being that I have live on both sides of the fence web design and insurance sales I feel like I should add my two sense.

Can you do it yourself...Yes, will it convert properly...Probably not.

If I had a dollar for every one who told me universal or whole life as a scam I would be rich..If I had a dollar for everyone who told me that you can just design you own website and designers are scammers I would be equally rich.

In life you will get what you pay for. You will either pay for it with your time or your money. There is no way around that rule.

For those who are fine paying with their time and for the gentleman who started the thread here is a hubspot report on design and what your site needs for conversion.

whoa they really stuff some kws in that title tag lol

4 years ago I started my blog and did so by investing $500 up front and then more on a premium theme. I knew nothing about Wordpress (or blogging for that matter) and spent hours up hours trying to figure it out. Over the years I've invested a couple thousand dollars on a web designer helping with tweaks attempting to improve usability and lead capturing.

If I were to do it from scratch, $500 is a drop in the bucket. As much time as I spent, I would happily drop $2-3k on a site; more if they would offer split testing on the site design.

I've seen plenty of $500 sites and most are pure crap. Sure you have a site, but consumers are getting used to seeing more slicker looking sites and that will only become more common place.

The site that started this thread ChooseTerm is one of the more slicker looking sites. With more content and backlinking I would expect his site to do very well.

My only suggestion would be a larger and more prominent "Get a Quote Now" button.

Thanks for the comment. I've been doing exactly that - you can notice that i've been blogging regularly as well as building links on some authority sites. Starting to get a little traffic, but obviously not enough yet. its a long term work in progress.

Good ideo on trying to get people to your homepage. I really like the look and feel of your site. You are on track with the videos you have put up so far. There are many "signals" that Google looks for now days.
You really do need more content above the fold on the homepage. Just link building to the homepage with virtually no content will not rank you as well as you might think. Do your keyword research and fine a couple keywords to rank your homepage for and add in some LSI keywords.
Good job on the site so far...now the real work begins....getting visitors....and converting them into leads....

Thanks - I added a bit of content right at the fold so I can target some keywords there. also blogging regularly and building links.

building links on some authority sites

I see this all the time and have never figured this out.

Some resources say the best links are natural, where someone finds your site (post or page) and links back to it as a reference.

Then there are the Fiverr folks that will build 1000 links for $5 or the automated backlinking software for the incredibly low price of $19.99 but buy now because there are only 3 left at this price.

I susbscribed to a service a few years ago that sent out a list of 50 or so sites each month with details on how to get your link. You had to sign up as a member of a forum, or something along those lines and fill in personal data along with your own textual backlink.

Problem with that was the sites caught on that someone was selling their information and eliminated most of the profiles (and links) within a few weeks. Forums on aboriginal pygmy dating that normally had 2 new members a month went to 400 in one month they got suspicious.

So would you care to elaborate on your method?

Ok my site is launched...please advise...

A few notes:

1) Some people may thing the red "click" button in your header is a working call to action button.

2) A lot of white space below the menu and to the left of "high risk specialist."

3) See if you can either adjust the width of the sidebar or html code in your life quoter so it fits without the scroll bar.

4) A lot of white space on your contact page.

5) Kudos - I clicked on your live chat and you answered within seconds. Nice.
