Help W/ SIAA and Smartchoice Calculations

gotcha, thanks!

I don't feel it is necessary from day one to have one but maybe a few months down the road if I feel like I could use the help I would consider it. I will propose this to the cluster, if they don't like it then I guess I will have to look else where..

So I just met with my SIA rep today and after speaking with him, he told me the best part of being with SIA and the majority of your money made throgh SIA is from profit share not so much through commission. Does anyone who is with SIA know approximately how much you can expect to make from the profit sharing?

I like to join siaa but one rep told me they don't want to expand in new york. Can i call some other rep?

Have you called the master agency and checked with them? Don't take someone elses word for it, look for yourself!!!!

Now, that said, I know overall SIAA is getting a bit pickier about the agents they take on. Basically, they have more people wanting to sign up then they want to have on their books. They, like a lot of aggregators, are wanting proven producers with track records of being profitable. If you can cover that, you are probably going to get picked up.

You can go work with other clusters, such as SmartChoice, TWFG or any of the others. I think they are all tightening up the appointment process though, partly because the carriers are tightening up trying to get loss ratios under control.

It sounds like they are behaving just like the carriers.

"You need an existing book, but you can't get a book because we won't contract you until you have one."

I think the carriers are pushing back on the cluster appointments a bit. I don't think they object, just that some bigger agents complain about the number of agents in an area.

So, the same reason carriers won't appoint you directly have started to come into play even through clusters. Would have taken a rocket scientist to see that coming (not).

This is especially an issue if we are talking NYC. There is a major capacity issue with agents and they are becoming very strict. I was a licensed NY agent with a company that would not let me sell in long island because of too many agents but could in NYC, NY state, and NJ :err:

Did you try Iroquois?

Go through an MGA at this point then and try to roll to a direct appointment...no binding authority but it's one of the best options to use until you have a direct appointment you can get.
