If Money or Family Was No Issue...

And how is it ignorant to say that a black man is more likely to be shot by another black man than lynched by a white man?

I read the paper every day and often catch the news as well. I can't recall the last lynching. I've seen plenty of black people shot, stabbed, raped, etc. by other blacks.

The closest I can think of was the first openly gay mayor in MS who was killed. He was black, but then so was his attacker. Or maybe he was the first one that was black. The mayor of Southaven came out around the same time. He got caught with his hand in the cookie jar and they asked about his purchases at a sex shop that he asked the city to reimburse him for.

Where & when did I mention being lynched?

If you're referring to what Rearden said....it was ignorant in the fact in had no reason to be in this discussion. Since we werent comparing all areas a person could be injured or hurt & since I never said, insinuated or even hinted at the rural south being the most dangerous place to be.

So what was the point?

You didnt answer my last post, how is my own exp & what ppl who live there have told me ignorant? Pls tell me....is it because you dont agree? Because you dont want to believe it? Why?

If you told me u dont feel comfortable in the hood in Atl and you havent heard good things.....Are u lying? Are u ignorant? I bet not 1 person would call you ignorant, inc me! But I when its me referring to a white neighborhood....Im ignorant?

What is ignorant is to believe that all areas are like that or to believe it isn't stereotyping. But you better believe there are areas back in the hills I wouldn't go. Just like I'd never work Orange Mound. I'm sure most of the folks are very nice and would treat me great, still not going to do it.

And if you really believe you are safer in a bad black neighborhood than a bad white neighborhood, you are fooling yourself. Recently a pizza delivery driver from a nice family who just insisted on making his own way in life was shot over $20. They didn't even ask him for it, just walked up, shot him and took the money. And yes, he was black and his assailants were black.

The difference is, I know I'm stereotyping when I say I won't go into a bad neighborhood. You think you aren't when you say you would avoid the rural south.

Aha...now we are getting somewhere & I was waiting for you to say another UNTRUTH I said.

Ive explained this before, but apparently you dont understand what a stereotype is...

Kirby, if you ACTUALLY go to a place you dont feel safe or a the very least, ppl you know who have been there tell u its not safe....and you therefore in turn say Im not working those areas, I dont feel comfortable going there. Does that make you ignorant?

NO....and its NOT a stereotype. You didnt paint a broad stroke against a race or class of ppl, you simple stated where you dont feel comfortable. You also DIDNT say, all ppl in that area would hurt me or I know they all hate me or all of those areas are the same....THOSE are stereotypes.

I stated the samething, but Im the minority here & ppl hear what they wanna hear & get defensive without taking the time to actually read what Im saying. A feeling and/or opinion is NOT a stereotype! I didnt say all rural areas lynch ppl, are worst then black poor areas, or anything of the such.

Also, its been stated PLENTY of times on here about "what happens in the hood" from some agents....do you think they ALL have actually exp this or are making a conclusion? Of course some, if not all, are making a conclusion.....yet have you or anyone else called them ignorant, EVER? NOPE...I wonder why that is!

And is there any non-white area in the country that has a looooong well documented history of being violent to white ppl, just cause they are white? Anywhere? NOPE! Do u have any idea what that feels like? No, you dont!

So to sit here & tell me my feelings are ignorant cause I just dont feel safe in those areas is the only ignorance!

So just like everyone else whos come on here to "defend" the rural south, I didnt paint the whole rural south with 1 broad stroke, but I know there are some bad places out there still....so I wouldnt work there trying to decipher, which are the bad parts & which are ok!

If an agent came on here & said "I aint working the ghetto areas of detroit (for whateva reason)".....this discussion would have NEVER taken place! No diff then if Trayvon Martin were white, he'd be alive! Same BS!

There are bad places for any race to go into. To say that we don't know how you feel is ridiculous. I'm a white guy and was pistol whipped by a bunch of Puerto Ricans in Chicago. Has a group of white guys ever did that to you?

I suspect there's others who feel the way you do, but you saying as a white guy, that you know how a black guy feels...is disgusting & the most arrogant/ignorant/insulting thing I may have ever heard in life!

But the good news is, no one else will side with me...so you're safe from being called ignorant by anyone else Im sure.

I would say Tins could probably appreciate your situation as well as anyone could, perhaps better since he was actually assaulted.

I'm not saying that you aren't entitled to your feelings. But to make a blanket statement that all areas of the rural south are bad is the same as me making a blanket statement that every poor black neighborhood is bad.

So the question is, am I racist for saying it? If I am, you are one too.

I concur & agree with you 100%!

Now for like the 7-8th time this was posted that I said this, please tell me where I said "All ares of the south are bad"? Or any "blanket" statement I made?

As Ive said before, ppl will read/hear what they want....cause of their prejudices.

And again, this discussion never comes up when someone says anything about the ghetto or poor black areas....NEVER!!

When I quoted you above, that was pretty much a blanket statement. That is why everyone has jumped your case.

And the ghetto can be dangerous and really for anyone. Going by statistics, I think I'd be more afraid to be a black male in the ghetto than a white anything. Just by what you see in the news, anyone trying to improve their situation through legal means seems to be an endangered species in the ghetto.

But also, most southern whites are very afraid of being labeled a racist, that is why most try to avoid blanket statements. Look at Paula Deen. I haven't followed her case enough to really comment now, it looks like more allegations have come out so perhaps she is a racist. But the mere accusation pretty much destroyed her brand.

You are right. Only a black man knows what racism feels like. You win...

I prefer Calif, so I dont have to deal with people like yall!!!

:twitchy: :D

PS- Plus Im black, working the "rural south" aint happenin'!

Here is TD's answer to the original question. He is a black guy that prefers living and working in California to the rural south. I can't really see where the argument is.
