I'll Buy It Later

In the old days we talked about "backing the hearse up to the door" (figuratively) but you guys are taking it to to the max..

Did you take this off my site? I've been robbed.

Googled Finale Expense images (I Think).

After the prospect has rebuffed all advances for closing the deal and still wants to think it over.... How about a poster board with that scipt on it, that you could ask them to hold, sort of under their chin like a mug shot, and attempt to snap their picture. When they protest or ask you what you are doing? Reply that you've had a few of decendants children angry with you that Mom/Dad didn't take out the life insurance plan, and this way you document that at least you tried, in case their kids ever ask. [hardcore] But if you aren't going to get the sale what diff does it make? This is in the category of pulling out all the stops.

How many would have the ballz to use that one?

So Bob. For $50/mo I can get your family X amount in life insurance to help them after your passing. Or for a one time fee of $50 you can enroll in my car wash kit club. At your death, I will bring your family a deluxe car wash kit to help them raise money for your funeral and final expenses. No matter what inflation does, I promise to bring the full kit if you pay the $50 now.

So, sign here for the insurance or here for the car wash kit.

There was a trainer that I had back in 2004, that claimed when someone would say that, and he was in their home, he would say ok, then go sit on the couch in the other room...The prospects would ask him what he was doing, and he would say I'm sitting here until you discuss it...Claims it worked like a charm

Years ago I took time off from the insurance business for a few months and worked some one-call-close jobs.

Really didn't like it but it helped me to hone my F2F skills in ways different from how I had sold before.

I would make my pitch, and if it seemed like they wanted to think it over I would excuse myself by telling them I had to call my wife and let her know I was running late. I told them I would step outside for a few minutes so they could discuss things without any pressure and for them to let me know when it was OK to come back in.

It did not work every time but worked often enough that I used it to make sales I probably would not have otherwise.

"backing the hearse up to the door"

One agent used this on a regular basis.

"Here is my card. I want you to keep it while you think about what we have discussed. IF YOU WAKE UP IN THE MORNING, give me a call".

I've used the "...if you wake up in the morning" line a few times; always as a joke though.

I used to hate when I heard they wanted to pray about it until one day, out of the blue, a lady said that and I said, "okay, sounds like a good idea!". Then I hung my head and waited. It took about a minute and a half of silence until she said okay, let's do it.

The one I have never been around is, "I am not going to die. I am going to be taken up in the rapture so I don't need insurance." I have tried all kinds of answers including, "The Apostles expected it in their lifetime but they died." I haven't found anything to break through that line of thinking.

Lewis, that reminded me of a couple I met with years ago about health insurance. Guardian was very competitive then but they required the applicant to purchase term life insurance as part of the package.

Everything went fine until I asked about the beneficiary. That is when they balked.

Even though the health insurance was exactly what they wanted, and saved a bunch of money, they refused to pay an extra $5.00 or so monthly for life insurance.

These folks had a window washing business. Up on ladders and scaffolding, even did commercial work.

Nope, don't want any life insurance. That is what the church is for. If something happens to me the church will take care of my family.

OK, then why not make the church the beneficiary so it does not create a financial strain on the church budget?

No dice.

They are still in business. Did have an incident that made the news a year or so ago. A scaffolding failed and a couple of their crew had to wait for several hours before a rescue team could rappel down the building.

Don't know if their position has changed or not, but doesn't matter. I moved on.

My experience comes more in the realm on life insurance on growing families, but I have to believe this old thought is still true.

"Don't worry so much about the ones that don't want to buy. You've done your job if you've talked to them and asked them to buy. There are plenty of other people that are "dying" to talk to you."

The only thought I give to the ones that didn't wan tot buy or "got away" is what i might do differently should I run into someone else with the same thought patter nto keep them from getting away. I never dwell or "worry" about one I didn't close. Time is too short to dwell on the past.
