Is Securus the New NAA??

I'm with Securus, and yes, I do find this type of stuff cheesey. Almost like a MLM meeting. I think they are doing some new program where they are apparently recruiting/training people to get their licenses and then taking them out in the field.

I've always ignored the emails since I have no interest in recruiting. I got into this business so I wouldn't have to manage people anymore. Maybe another Securus agent can fill us in. I work out here in AZ on my own and don't hear much...

Ben,

Are you still with Securus?. I rode with a manager today. I like the opportunity but am concerned about buying leads. My concern with the leads is determining the correct zip codes to market.

Any thoughts, input advice would be greatly appreciated.

I am new to this but what I did was google the counties or cities in my area and hit the wiki page on that place. I looked for places with at least 10,000 people minimum and tried to find cities where more people where the median age was slightly higher, the median income was slightly lower, and more people were below the poverty line. I picked enough zip codes to include at least 250k people. Again, I am very very new to this so that was kind of just my own personal way I decided to do it. Someone else may have a better suggestion..

Definitely RIDE THROUGH the areas you're thinking about targeting.

You DON'T want shitbox ghettos and projects.

You DO want low- to middle-class income houses; think 2- or 3-bedroom houses with a carport.

Make SURE you don't drop in an area with a language boundary. But definitely hit black and white neighborhoods.

DO NOT drop in middle- to high-income neighborhoods. People will respond but it's an incredible waste of time.

Recycle your areas every 2-3 months; some will say to drop sooner than that.

So I've been the NAA route and have been contacted by Securus- Does anyone have some sound advice, as far as a company to work with, for a fairly new agent that has been burned twice by IMO/FMO's? or do you recommend going independant completely?

Seriously? I guess at least you didn't start another thread to ask this question. Use FE search function....

In my humble opinion, I think its ok to start your insurance career with an IMO. Maybe I should speak for myself. I started with NAA and even though I am no longer with them, I learned alot and I credit them with giving me a solid beginners foundation. I am currently with Securus and I have learned a tremendous amount of information that has definitely advanced my skill set and my career. I have to give them kudos for their back office and their training modules. I also like that they teach you how to get your own leads. I went through being lead dependent in the mortgage industry. When the market crashed, I failed miserably because I did not know how to ceate my own leads. My philosophy give a man a fish and feed him for a day teach him how to fish and feed him for a lifetime.

I was "successful" with NAA in 2011 where I grossed $104,000 but the expenses were out of control. If you want a great site that details some major issues with NAA google fire NAA and its the first search result.

I went to Securus and I don't think there perfect but no one is. I am a lot more profitable here.
