Some lady almost didn't want me to get meet with her because she didn't want to go with any other company because apparently Lincoln Heritage told her that funeral directors are scam artists who try to steal everybody's money and since she had the"Funeral Guardian Society" to help her family when she passed away her family, she said, would not have to deal with the "crooks" as she said because the "Funeral Guardian Society" would shop around funerals. Is there something I can show her or tell her tomorrow when I see her about this?

The FCGS won't do anything until the policy is 2 years old. Then they will pay within 24 hours but any funeral home can get paid in 24 hours by assignment.

So the pay quick doesn't have the leverage they pretend.

They will piss off the funeral home with the strong arm tactics and the family may not have the welcome from the funeral home that they were expecting.

But if she is sold on that stuff then she can buy it direct without having an LH policy.

Many LH agents sell the FCGS as a funeral preplan. It is not and the company will tell you that don't want their agents presenting it as such.

But they still do exactly that all over the country. So is it rogue agents or systemic?

You can go to their website and get some info : http://www.funeralconsumer.org/pages/benefits.html

They most definitely do something in the first two years.

They do everything they normally would do if it is under the two year mark EXCEPT take an assignment on the policy.

When the fcgs takes an assignment they won't charge a percentage like most funeral homes do. They charge a flat $100 regardless of policy size.

As far as their service. All they really do is have you list your funeral preferences and send the info to the funeral home. They will help the beneficiary file claims with their life insurance companies and take an assignment if needed.

As far as price shopping goes. They will send the funeral home a list of the things they need and request pricing. Then they will send it to 2 additional funeral homes to see if someone gives them a different set of prices. They will forward the prices to the beni and let them decide what funeral home to go with.

The president of the FCGS told me himself that they would not do anything on policies less than 2 years old.

And Newby had a client that had a less than 2 year old LH policy that needed the services. They called and the FCGS wouldn't even help with paperwork.

You sell for them so it's natural that would push their propaganda. But it's still propaganda.

Will Settlers Covered not do as much as the FCGS will do? In fact they even claim to provide benefits before they die.

Even if that was true, they can buy it direct without getting ripped off by LH. They suck.

They apparently took the enrollment sheet off their website. Probably ruined the LH guys presentation that you had to buy an LH policy to get it.

I've attached it again in case anyone ever wants to sign someone up for it.
