Mark's Waiting Room Prospecting Idea

I want to share a new idea that I feel could work for a couple of you. The idea is to use a brochure like http://lifehappens.org/pdf/printable-consumer-guide/life-insurance-pcg.pdf <-- this one and drop them off at every waiting room that you can think of. Every place someone has to wait and is bored needs to have one of these near by in the waiting room.

How many times are you at the dentist office, doctor office, hospital, getting your car fixed or any waiting room, bored to death? Most people like myself, start looking for something to read to fill in time. There is usually not a lot of good things to read in the waiting rooms. I bet a lot of you can think of a way, to drop off the brochures in the waiting room.

If you had something on the front page, like "What Do You Need to Know about Life Insurance" and had it in a good location in the waiting room, then they might pick it up and start reading it.

In this example the brochure tells them why they need to have life insurance, how much they need to buy, how to find an agent and what kind of insurance you need to have.

You can buy the example brochure from http://lifehappens.org/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=28&osCsid=f4b858d4064677a33008b06ebe8c84fd This link.

This idea would work on just about any kind of product that you are selling. You will also start thinking about more places then just waiting rooms to use the idea with. I hope I've given you something to think about.

I think most people (especially males) would rather look at the current issue of Hustler.

Perfect....Rip off the front page of Hustler and attach it as the first page of Marks flyer put the centerfold in there as well and have a tear off offering "Purchase you life insurance from our Hustler Models" and in small print all life insurance enrollments via phone enrollment agents may be hustlers and not hustler models ... :D

My wife really hates it when I pull out a men's magazine while in the waiting room . . .

Good Idea Mark; have you tried this? I do think that if you have something catchy enough it would get the prospects attention.

I actually had a guy tell me a month ago that he was going to approach different places about providing "free" toilet paper for them to put in their restrooms.

On the toilet paper he was going to have his card on every sheet. I still do not know if he was serious; but again he is thinking outside the box. I guess that would be another way of capturing the undivided attention of a prospect............LOL:D

I know what I would be thinking when I saw his ad on the Toilet paper and I'm sure a lot of people that don't think much of insurance agents would think the same thing......I Sh*t all over this guy.....:D

Now that I think about it, I want to try this....but first would have to run it by my B/D and Finra.....Just the idea of sending my B/D compliance dept a roll of toilet paper and an advertisement...I would have to fly out to Cincinnati to deliver it in person...could you imagine the looks on the faces...Even better every other sheet could be a picture of your face...

I'm sorry you are right about it being a thought out of the box and I don't mean to ridicule any idea

Not knowing all that much about the business yet, I like it. It's well written, offers sound advice and info and its presented well.

I have quite a bit of life insurance, but if I didn't I would pick this up. I'd probably check it out anyway...

Most "professional" offices frown on this type of activity unless you have prior permission. If they find such a brochure in their waiting room it will be removed quickly and thrown away. And if your name and phone number are on it, you might expect a phone call about soliciting in their offices, especially if you do it more than once.

It was a thought that I wanted to share because I knew many would get a laugh from it.

The point that I think Mark is trying to make is that if you are consistently proactive in your practice; it will result in more sales.

All to many times Insurance agents reach a point of complacency within their own respective practices, and it stunts both their personal and business growth.

I thank you for the idea Mark; I will pass it on.

I definitely agree. You would want to make sure that you got the permission from the business owner before placing any literature.

I think if you approached the business owner correctly it would not be an issue.
