Im trying this out & seeing if it has any value with my current clients & clients Im meeting with now.

I have a client who spends $104/mo on meds who I just got a SNL policy for. Thats NOT inc his lidoderm patches & his viagra (he cant always afford those every month)...those 2 by themselves I believe are about $70/mo.

I just checked, those 2 are covered under this plan, plus he has several others I need to look at when I stop by there Wed. Hopefully hell be my 1st client & if it goes well, itll let me know if this has any value or not to add to my bag!

WOW, Viagra is covered....LOOK OUT Old Timers!!

I appreciate you posting this. I also appreciated sp's original post. Whiners aside, I saw real value in this approach, even though I'm not sure this organization is the best option available. Yeah, I can understand the point about sp potentially making a buck from his post, but I think his participation in this forum could be considered in the balance. Of course that may be just my capitalist bias speaking. :-)

I am going to give this a try. About 12 years ago myself and another agent started a free service for clients where we researched and filed for free drugs from drug companies. We provided the service free and did the filings and research of the companies ourselves. In terms of generating sales it was a huge success.
What we found was each company had its own paperwork to file. They had different income requirements for qualification. Also we had to continuously refile the paperwork over time. It soon became a boondogle for us in terms of time and followup. We had to stop doing it for new clients and just kept up with existing clients. Finally the part D drug plans came out and we stopped doing it.

If people can get their drugs for free for a $30 monthly fee, well versus filling out all the paperwork and continous refiling it might be a great alternative. I know I am not going to fill out the paperwork again!

If agents need a gimmick than this thing just might be your ticket.

But in reality I can't see how it would even be an effective gimmick. Just say for that small % of FE prospects that are not on pat D that this could save them some money. It's going to be a couple of months before they realize any savings and if anyone thinks they are going to call the agent back up to buy an FE policy then they are living in dreamland.

Even if they are ready to buy at that time they will have mailed in more reply cards and some agent that doesn't use gimmicks will have gotten in there.

But, if they wanted a policy in the first place they would find a way to buy it without this discount card.

And, if a discount card is so important to them then why not just sell them an RNA and they will get a free discount card that's not just limited to their Rx?

The only value I can see to this for an agent is to make money off peddling the cards. If that's the approach then an agent will probably like it. If thinking this will help sell more FE then I think they agent will be sorely disappointed.

Of course you will hear differently from the ones that recruiting for this. But that's the case with anything.

I am not sure if I would classify it as a gimmick or not. But I do know this; gimmicks work all the time.

An example of a gimmick that works is Zero Percent financing on cars. Anybody in the industry knows that most of the time by taking the zero percent rate they are not going to get nearly as big of a discount on the price of the car. So in lieu of the price reduction you may take the better interest rate. Nothing more than a gimmick designed to help sell more cars.

The guaranteed $2000.00 trade in allowance is just another gimmick as well. Whether it is a gimmick or not doesn't deter the fact that it just may help you sell more policies.

If your not able to close someone on a policy because of a lack of money and your able to show them a substantial savings on prescription medications, you just might be able to pick up a few sales along the way. JD states as a deterrent that other agents will swoop in and steal the sale from you, which may be true. But a sharp agent will minimize that risk by holding their hand along the way. If you have a work in progress you need to stay in touch with them.

Will this idea make someone rich, probably not. In reality it is just another bullet in your holster. If your able to pick up a sale from time to time that certainly isn't a bad thing.
