I remember the days when FE life insurance was commonly referred to as EZ issue life insurance. Some companies even branded it as such. It was kind of the whole point. That now seems doomed to a nostalgic past.
I remember those. Life was EZer back then.

I gave Settlers a shot. I canned their A@# soon after! What a pain in the A#@ company to deal with. My last straw was a SINGLE PREMIUM policy that I flew out to Chicago to complete. WoW! Talk about ISSUES. The "HEAD UNDERWRITERS" (and I use that term VERY loosely) didn't know what they could/couldn't accept as far as 1035's. First they said they could take partial exchanges from a Met-Life I was 1035ing. They said, SURE WE ACCEPT PARTIAL exchanges, go ahead and get'er done. Since I been doing this for a while I knew I better call again and ask a different underwriter to see if I get the same answer as the one I just talked to. And FOR GOOD MEASURE I called yet a 3rd time and asked to speak to a HEAD UNDERWRITER to confirm the previous answers YET AGAIN, BEFORE I made the flight to Chicago. Got back home to San Antonio and faxed in the completed app with ALL the necessary forms to get the exchange completed. Then they called me a few weeks later and DROPPED THE BOMB after a round-trip flight and 2 field days wasted to let me know they couldn't do it after all. The HEAD underwriter (or 1 of them) told me SHE apologizes BUT they weren't aware of what they could/couldn't accept in regards to 1035's. She said I shouldn't be so upset, because after all, I wasn't the only agent they have receiving bad news. She proceeded to tell me they had to tell another agent the EXACT same bad news, so I wasn't the only one this happened to. Couldn't believe my ears! Glad to be done with them...
That's not good. I've never tried a partial 1035 with them. The regular 100% 1035s go through fine.
But only a handful of FE companies will allow 1035s of any type.
I like Settlers a lot. I wish I could use them more but they don't allow the replacements in Kentucky and pretty much every other case is replacing something.
