Setting Appointments or Door Knocking

I'm a door knocker. I've canvassed and cold door knocked a targeted list. I've also cold called on the phone. I like both, but early on, it was easier to door knock. Too easy to hang the phone up on you, plus you learn to think on your feet when door knocking. Plus, door knocking is coool.

I know you're talking DM leads. Why not call on the phone, and the one's you don't set an appointment with, door knock(even if they said no on the phone...they won't remember that they talked to you).

Tried and true method!

However, if the boy's gonna touch every door either way, why not reverse it and knock first and take full advantage of route optimization.. then use the phone to not waste much time on those not home after a couple rounds.

Knowing how to door knock is a must.

Yes, prospective agents can practice at home.

Now step back from that door and turn your body toward the hinges...

That's pretty much my method. I like to run leads (when I do run leads) in route order. I can cram more in that way, and not waste time &/or gas.

In Jackson Mississippi, you can get 12 appointments off of 15 leads, not saying half of them will be there when you show up.

In certain parts of Florida, you might only get 1 or 2 appointments off of 12-15 leads.

These numbers are from personal experience.
Jackson sounds like south Dallas. You can set appointments like crazy, but it seems like they're just noting the time to not be there!

I'm working a county like that now. And the ones who are there are living in a $350,000 home with no mortgage and two pensions. I wish I knew the business better to know what to do for those folks.

Do a fact-finder and maybe offer LTC? Some FMOs like Ritter will do most of the work for you. They have a good fact finding worksheet.

And I don't know much about pensions, but some people have the kind that when they pass away it stops, too. They may have two pensions and two SS checks now, but someday it may be reduced to one of each.
