Setting Appointments or Door Knocking

Not work there?

One of the BIG drawbacks of going fixed price again instead of doing my own drops is that I cannot so nimbly adjust. I requested to stop mail to that county a few weeks ago, and I still have three weeks of leads in inventory and responses are still coming in, albeit at a lessening rate. Biggest waste of $$ since I got into this business. But that's the risk we take.

I have had mixed feelings about DM programs. My view as of today is that I'd be better off going back to MS Powermail and dropping my own where I want. Also, I find door knocking is much easier when you have the actual pink or blue or green card that the responder sent in than it is showing the a scanned black and white copy on paper.

I'll keep working those leads as they come in, but brother ... once I'm done with them I'm done with working the boonies and sticks and rural back waters. These leads would a be almost a toal loss if it weren't for the fact that some of them with a city address actually live in one of the two cities in that county. Unfortunately, a lot of folks with a what appears to be a city address live in half million dollar + homes, but their "income" is FE prospect level. Nothing like telling someone that $10K is only $55/month and having them immediately burst out laughing. "Heck, I'll just give my son the $10,000 now so he'll have it while waiting for the estate to settle."

I only ever worked the actual physical lead once. You could always print it in color and I assure you have an a physical copy is almost as unimportant as it gets.

I agree. Most of the years that I was in the field I got the physical cards mailed to me but it never even once occurred to me to take them out in the field. The PDF version came to me at least a week faster then the actual card. The PDF was much easier to organize on my clip board and write my notes on during the appointment. Then when I got back to my office I could scan the PDF lead sheet with my notes into my ACT database and attach it to the client/contact much easier.

If someone plays like they didn't fill the card out I don't think that would change anything if they saw the color of the card. Could be wrong. But I never had any issue talking my way into the houses that I thought that was any problem.

Since they have now sort of admitted to having money and estate concerns, Is there any kind of single payment policy for grandkids that you could offer them (if there are grandkids in the picture)?

Now step back from that door and turn your body toward the hinges...

Really getting into the fine points of door knocking here.

I was taught to turn away from directly facing the door but direction was not specified. However, as I reflect on your post, If you face toward the door opening side rather than the hinge side, wouldn't it be easier (less motions involved) to reach for the screen door handle?

Th reason for this is 2 fold...

First... it allows the person inside to get a side view of you while not staring in the window or peep hole which is a bit creepy.

Second... by facing into hinge of the main door, it requires the prospect open the door a bit wider.

Small things... but... "Big doors swing on small hinges."

If given the choice, I'd take the original card over the scanned image any day.
