Settlers Announcement Postcard

If you look at overall time in completing an application, faxing it then checking to make sure it is placed. Then compare that to a 20 minute phone based application and probably breaks out even. People do it because they like knowing when they leave the
house its done.

Once you take a paper application and you start to have problems getting it through pending business/underwriting then the phone based application wins.

But the beauty of the job is you can write whoever you want and I'll write whoever I want and will still both be happy in the end.

What everybody seems to ignore is you are already doing an 18 minute POS after spending the time to complete the application. So actually, you saving the time to take the app as well as the FAX times plus , as you say, you don't have the problems inherent with a paper app.

In home e-apps and phone apps are all about NIGOs.

Just ask all the Transamerica agents if they would be willing to trade 18 minutes in the home for all the amendments they get and the time it takes to resolve them. Plus all the ones that never do get resolved and thus a policy is never issued and put in force.

Even if it takes longer to do the POS PHI, I'd do it every time if I could. I like to know before I go.

Even if they don't give a decision at the end of the POS PHI, I want to be there for the PHI. I've had to interject many times because sometimes the applicants get nervous and make mistakes and we can correct them on the spot instead of finding out a couple of days later after you're gone that they were declined because the made a mistake on the PHI.

Some companies say they will terminate the call if they hear the agent giving any kind of instruction or correction.

That's true, and I've been warned on the call...but I'm not talking about coaching the applicant. I'm talking about interrupting the call and saying to the interviewer, "Excuse me, but I need to interject"...not talking to the applicant, but the interviewer.

You still have to fill out an application. If you don't get all that info how do you know what company to recommend and how do you give the info to do the call.

You act like you just walk into a home , say we're doing a voice sig and call them up and put the person on the line and let them talk.:goofy:

I can do most of the phone interviews in around 10 minutes or less. The voice sigs take around 30 minutes. I've been on the phone with RNA for 45 minutes.

I did 3 yesterday with phone interviews. The interviews took anywhere from 9 to 12 minutes each.

I did have to scan those 3 apps in last night. That took all of 7 minutes.

So, I could have spent a hour longer in those homes, gotten behind schedule, annoyed the clients with all the technicalities of the voice sig and in doing so I would saved myself 7 minutes?

Whooboy!! Sign me up!! Or should I say, voice sign me up??:D

The voice sigs do save the companies time and money and eliminates staff at the home office. If you are on board with that then go for it.

But no way it saves the agent in the field time.

I dont think anyone disagrees with that statement. But the point is that you get a decision in the home, and instead of trying to fix anything later, it can be taken care of immediately.

There is value in that, but the question is: "Is it worth the additional time investment?"

That much time on the phone with a a third party call would be a sale killer, in my opinion. I would much rather run the slight risk of having to get back in touch with the customer and fix an issue, if one ever comes up.

I never filled out a paper application with Equitable.

Not saying it takes less time. Just saying it should be about the same since you have to do the POS anyway. Plus, the application is always 100% correct.

You may not have filled out an app but you had to get the info. So you didn't write it down? Just commit it to memory and recite it over the phone?

How much problem do you guys have with incorrect applications?

If you write the same most of the time don't you know what needs to be filled out and what doesn't?
