Starting With Securus

Hi Ben,

Appreciate your posts. I am currently considering Securus for the same reasons that you chose them.

Quest, are you buying Platinum or the $3 leads? Did you have previous sales experience and do the managers assist in marketing demographics?

Yeah thanks for your posts Ben, very helpful. How about some updates?

1) Are you still with Securus? How are your feeling about it after a few months?

2) Are you getting the number and quality of leads you wanted coming in regularly as scheduled?

3) Are you happy with your pay so far? Still making more than your last business (sorry that's a little personal, but you mentioned it in this thread)?

4) How are the charge backs affecting you?

THANKS AGAIN!

1. Depends on your definition of "with"... I stopped their lead program about a month ago. I still put some business through them. I'm just not sure that type of lead system is best for me. I've been sending out some mailers on my own and am about to get started w/ med supps as well. Who knows, I may go back to their leads if my new plan tanks.

I really only have a few rural towns withing 120 miles of me and Securus didn't want to drop mail in Phoenix. This meant that I had to spend some time in hotels on the road which I'm not a big fan of. It also makes it tougher to be relentless with the leads. (Getting a yes or no from everybody)

2. I always got the amount of leads I was promised.

3. I never got paid by Securus, I get paid by the insurance companies. In that regard, yes I'm still selling insurance and enjoy it. Don't get caught up in what other people are making. It will have absolutely no bearing on what you make.

4. Since I started full time around Nov/Dec of last year I've lost about 10% of the policies I've written. (I actually just wrote and app this morning and had the lady call me a few minutes ago and cancel it. Her son who apparently knows everything about insurance had her cancel. Gotta love it...)

Hope this helps, let me know if I need to clarify anything...

Yes, please enlighten us on all of Larry Dickstein's Schemes!

I've never met or spoken with him, but after looking at some of your posts, you seem to be obsessed with the guy.

Finally got my first leads in yesterday. They provided me with 12 which isn't bad considering the first mailers went out a little more than 2 weeks ago. The VP that I work with believes they should be able to get a solid 20/week from here on out. All of the leads are in a smaller town within about 5-10 miles of each other which is nice. Keep in mind I have now paid roughly $1,260 in lead costs so far and am now finally able to begin selling. Can't stress enough that anybody that plans on partnering w/ Securus really needs to have at least 3-4k saved up before you begin, otherwise you may be sunk really quick if you get off to a rough start.

Last night, I emailed the VP for my territory with questions about filling out applications and qualifying prospective clients. He told me to give him a call in the morning (which is a Saturday) and that he would go over it with me. He spent over 2 hours on the phone with me this morning guiding me through the sale and qualification process. I thought that was great of him to do, especially on a Saturday morning. I've seen that the further I get along in this process, the more receptive the representatives of Securus become to answering any questions or concerns. I get the feeling that they get flooded with people that interested in the program, but never really follow through.

My VP told me that he prefers Texas Life over Monumental and American Amicable but usually every agent finds one that they prefer and use the others as a backups. I've found that I need to do a lot of studying of these applications and be able to quickly calculate rates before I get in the field so that I'm not fumbling around like a moron if I do make a sale.

Selling starts next week. Thanks again for all the input and advice...

Did I Read this right you have paid over $1,260 and all you have to show for it is 12 leads? and they Promised you how many?

And why would they charge you if they have not given you the first amount promised?

This whole deal has me over here like huh?????:goofy:
