Starting With Securus

Hello Ben (and anyone who can offer good advice),

I've been browsing these forums for about a week now, and I'm just now reaching out to someone who can possibly give me some great advice.

I'm a young adult who literally just got licensed to sell health, life and annuities. Originally I was going through NAA (despite all the negative comments I was reading) however, my manager, which has been extremely nice and supportive (we have much in common outside of the insurance industry, he is a stand up guy) decided to join forces with Securus because he was tired of NAA recruiting anybody and everybody, as well as being deceptive and unfair in their ways. He asked me to join him on his new venture. He took a trip to to NJ to get things rolling, apparently he is good friends with Mr. Goldberg. He just opened up his own office building and I KNOW he is going to continue being real successful. He wrote 250k last year.

Here's my thing -- I want to do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING possible to guarantee my success. Being a young adult, with a wedding shortly, new car parent, lease etc. I'm most definitely feeling the pressure to produce. Right now I have a full time office job that pays ok. Definitely not enough to satisfy my needs/wants. I'm doing insurance on the side until it financially makes sense to go full time. You seem to be a very knowledgable experienced individual when it comes to Securus. I'm signing my contract with them tomorrow and I'm only starting off with 12-15 premium leads to get this rolling. I do not have tons of money to invest in this, but I do have a great mentor and enough funds to get the leads as mentioned.

With all this said, do you believe I'm on the right track? Any advice? Anything I need to be aware of? I'm in Richmond, VA. Apparently leads are very good around here. I have sales experience, none in the insurance field, and more importantly none with Securus. How are things going with you??

Any advice/experience/applicable knowledge is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you so much for your time. Have a great day :)

You can do it while still working. It would be easier if you did it by door knocking instead of calling for appointments. Stop at a few right after work each day. Spend Saturdays knocking all the leads you have starting at 9:00 am. Carry a clipboard with all or a bunch of your leads on it with the one you are knocking on top. Say you were in the neighborhood helping another family and saw they requested the information so you stopped by to see if you could help them. Say you have a few minutes right now if we can sit down at a table.

Just watch your finances. Can you afford to buy 12 - 15 leads a week, can you stop or not buy leads any week? Learn from your manager and others at Securus. It can be done if you work HARD and don't let excuses get in the way of knocking on doors.

I think if you read this whole thread from beginning to end, you'll get an idea.... Not sure what else I can help you out with...

i got offered 55% from a securus recruiter as well, hung up on him real well. Insurance Wholesalers to me seems to be good bet, $28 per lead at 100% contract.

Don't feel bad..I'm still waiting on a phone call back from Securus, that I left them in March of 2011

Securus is becoming the new SL and the old LH sounds like. They finally called me back from 2 weeks ago and some young guy calls, hes out in the field driving and says we can start you on 55% contract. This is after I told him I had 12 years of experience..lol
