Symmetry Financial gives run around when trying to get release

Has anyone had trouble getting a release from symmetry financial? Because I have my new Imo reach out to them for a release, but they will not give them a response. Is this normal? I think it's unprofessional because no one will provide me with a clear yes or no or what's going on, and I called several times. Cemetery keeps giving me the runaround.

I am taking my exam next week. While I study, I'm also doing my IMO due diligence. One thing I've learned is you must have an "immediate release" clause in your contract. Why would a reputable IMO want to hold an agent hostage (unless you owe them chargebacks)?

What made you think that they would release? IMOs and agencies that release are fairly rare. And with those type of agencies were agents recruit more agents the recruit more agents and everybody’s working on low commissions they hardly ever release. How could they? Everyone would leave as soon as they found out that they were recruited to low commission levels.

The only contracts you should be signing or directly with the insurance companies them self. And they are definitely not going to give you a immediate release clause in those contracts. You need to make sure that you sign up with an IMO that does publicly state that they release. If they don’t have that written on their own website then they probably don’t. Most do not.

Duford will release if he is not on the hook for chargebacks. I assume you do as well.

Yes it’s a small circle of those of us that do release. Dave Duford will release. And yes I do release also.

I was under the impression I had to sign with an IMO in order to get appointed with carriers.

You sign up directly with the insurance companies THROUGH an IMO. The IMO of your choosing gets an over ride on your sales over an above your commission. But you are contracted and paid directly from the insurance company.
If your IMO ever wants you to sign a contract that is a big HELL no. We (IMO’s) work for you, you don’t work for us. There is no “Assigning commission” or “Non-compete’s” or any BS contracts that you should EVER consider signing.

Thanks for the clarification. I knew most of that. So if I chose a carrier to appoint with, it's up to me which IMO I designate, or does the IMO have to approve me?

Both you have to be a fit for each other. I have agents call me all the time that want to get into selling FE by phone and want to sign up under me. I always ask them why they would choose me for that? We are the face to face specialists. We are probably one of the last remaining IMOs that promotes ourselves as a completely face to face agency. At the other extreme you have Jeff Roots agency that is the place to be for phone sales. They are the best of the best. I always point those callers to him.
But how could anyone do any research at all and not see that obvious of a mismatch. And of course many IMOs claim they are a fit for everyone and do it all. They usually are equally bad at everything so will take anyone that comes along.
