The I Love Door Knocking "December to Remember" Christmas Extravaganza Thread (powered by bacon)

It's raining. A very cold rain. I really do not like door knocking in the rain. I won't do it. I know I should. But I really find life unenjoyable when I am struggling to keep my materials dry and myself presentable while walking along dirty wet sidewalks in the cold December rain.

I love what I do.

Except when it rains.

I really do not like door knocking in the rain.
I was always told that the best time to canvass was in the rain. Supposedly people would feel sorry for you and invite you in... In reality, they leave you standing on the stoop looking like a drowned cat.. :frown:

I was told the same thing. I didn't find many that felt sorry enough to let me in. They mostly look scared, like I was probably insane and potentially dangerous!

Remember canvassing one New Year's day in the snow. Got in a few houses, made a sale or two. I think they let me in to see just how crazy I really was.. For the 5 years I was with NL&A, we always worked on New Year's day... supposedly to set the tome for the coming year..

Man, I thought Independent Life was crazy for making us work July 4th. They did give us Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year. But that was it.

In the car business, most dealers give Thanksgiving and Christmas and that's it. It wouldn't surprise me if some dealer somewhere is open every day of the year. I loved the car business - but most dealer-principals are greedy sacks of crap who suck the lifeblood from their employees ... most.

I'm kind of ambivalent about New Year's as a holiday. I don't really party NY's eve. I might be out there on New Year's day 2019.
