The I Love Door Knocking "December to Remember" Christmas Extravaganza Thread (powered by bacon)

But I still am gunning for a $5000 AP week minimum, so I need another $135 in monthly premium over the next three days.

Just squeaked it out with just a few cents under $423 in monthly premium for the week for a total of $5069 AP

Haven't compiled my numbers for the week other than this: Appointment setter set 4 appointments with 2 no shows. One of the sits the guy just was not an FE client - he had no need, plenty of insurance, investments, retired early with a pension. I'm sure there is something I could do for him, but I'm not at the level yet. I gave him @WinoBlues's phone number.

The second appointment was about as average an FE client as you could ask for, all the way down to her selecting a plan with a premium right around $55/month for about $660 in AP. The remain $4400 AP was straight door knocking. A lot of door knocking.

At 11 sits, I did not get close to my 20 sit goal. The weak output from the appointment setter side definitely had a big impact. The key to $10K weeks, imo, is to have a setter calling for you while you are out in the field everyday trying to get in front of people. I have had bad weeks on the doors. Thankfully, this was not one of them.

I'm only about $250 away from reaching my original goal, and about $7000 in AP from my revised goal.

In either event, I am as of today sitting on my best month since I went full time in February.

Seems as if your no show rate from your appt. setter is higher than I would expect. Any reason for that? Have you heard a tape of her work? Is she pushing too hard to set the appointment and some are agreeing just to get off the phone? Does she get paid for setting the appt even if it is a no show?:1baffled:

She only gets paid for sits and she has been doing this for quite awhile. And, as a matter of fact, I have heard a tape or two of her work as several of her recordings are available in the training section of our IMO on telephone appointment setting.

This was apparently a tough week on the phone for her in my area, so while this week was 50% no show that is based on her only setting 4 appointments. She has been calling for two months and her production this week is an anomaly. I don't know, of course, if this were really a rough week on the phones for her or if she just didn't work as much as usual. I had 31 leads this week. I gave her 29 of them, and of those, three did not provide a phone number and she was unable to find a listing for them, so they also went into my door knock pile.

In general, she seems to get me 6 to 8 sits no matter how many leads I get. 30 leads - 6 to 8 sits. 19 leads - 6 to 8 sits. I am not sure why that is, but I do pretty well with 6 to 8 sits from her generally, so I won't complain. I will say this about her: When I show up for an appointment, most of these folks know that I am coming to talk about burial insurance, and they know it is going to cost them something. Not all of them, but most of them ... That alone is a great value to me.

Some weeks there are more no shows than others, I do not think the no shows can be pinned on her: You have to remember the clientele we are dealing with here. Heck, half of the ones who are home when I get there say "Oh! I forgot you were coming!"

Let's put it like this: After trying two other appointment setters who were absolute disasters, I'm not going to kick this one to the curb over a sub par week.

Another thing to consider is this: Nearly every no show, if door knocked and found at home within week or so, will be an easy at the door appointment. In other words, if she finds someone to agree to set an appointment with her over the phone, even if that person fails to show for that appointment, she has nonetheless identified someone who will let me in if I show up at the door.

She really has done a fine job for me, so I wouldn't want anyone to read too much into whatever happens this month as recorded here in this thread to reflect too much on her. Over the nine weeks she has worked with me, it has definitely been to my advantage. In fact, I generally do so well with her appointments, that I got a bit lazy about door knocking my older leads. Thankfully I cured myself of that laziness in time for what turned out to be her first really poor production week. And thankfully, I had a great week on the doors.

I love what I do. Except when it rains. I really do not like door knocking in the rain. I'll take cat piss, cock roaches, shootouts, police lock downs ... anything so long as I don't have to door knock in the rain

It's raining. A very cold rain. I really do not like door knocking in the rain. I won't do it. I know I should. But I really find life unenjoyable when I am struggling to keep my materials dry and myself presentable while walking along dirty wet sidewalks in the cold December rain.

I love what I do.

I'll run preset appointments in the rain. But I won't doorknock. I've done some cold canvassing in the snow before, but rain is more unmanageable. I don't take the day off, though. I handle service work, or make phone calls, or catch up on admin stuff, etc.
