The I Love Door Knocking "December to Remember" Christmas Extravaganza Thread (powered by bacon)

12/01/2018

Beginner's luck yielded me a far better result today than I would ever have anticipated. As @rousemark recently reminded us, "sometimes it just falls into your lap."

Hit the first door at 9 AM this morning. The lady was home, but my Spanish and her English didn't work too well together. She gave me her son's cell phone number and I'll try to set an appointment this week with him and mom.

Second door: I'll let @Life Hawk translate this one - TTW, HNH, CB Monday 7+

After those two doors, the day got real good real fast. I knocked five more doors and was invited into each home. Three were pretty easy to get into, while two objected, one rather strongly, one very strongly. Eventually, both (begrudgingly) agreed to open the door wide enough to let me slip in sideways while holding my clipboard above my head.

I wrote 8 applications as follows:

Company A: 6 apps for 350.90 monthly premium
Company B: 1 app for 100.53 monthly premium
Company C: 1 app for 42.51 monthly premium

Total: 8 apps for 493.94 monthly premium

That is my new personal one day best - all final expense, and all straight door knocking of DM leads. The oldest lead I wrote today was booked into inventory on 9/19/2018 and assigned to me on 10/04/2018, and the most recent lead I sold today was assigned to me on 11/21/2018.

Aren't you the guy that used to run 2 hour appts? Looks like you cut the carbs!

Yupssir ... I have streamlined both the waistline and the sales process. I amaze myself at times at how concise I can be compared to how ... not so concise I was when I first started.

I have learned a bunch by studying @jdeasy's interviews and posts (find the need quickly or cut bait), @Rearden and @Agentguy5 videos (prequalify quickly and kick the tire kickers to the curb before they can kick you), and @SPUR CITY (smooth, clear and concise presentation that moves naturally from the need to the close). Also, I typically use Tim Winders's "sell the premium" approach, which itself cuts out a lot of time trying to get the prospect to settle on a premium and benefit amount. I quickly find the need, prequalify, sell premium, get the signatures and I am on my way. Of course, I'll probably spend a good bit of time tomorrow "scrubbing apps" that I would previously have spent in the clients home.

I guess you didn't understand that nobody buys insurance in December! Great job!

I guess you didn't understand that nobody buys insurance in December!

"I have a family of my own, Miss Gonzalez, and I sure do understand. As a matter of fact, the insurance companies themselves understand, Miss Gonzalez, that you ... want your money this month for Christmas presents ... for your family. They also know ... how important your family is to you ... and how very much you want... and need to leave this gift for them ... for when that day comes, that you'll no longer be here to buy Christmas presents for them. That's why we have made ... a special arrangement with the insurance companies for folks ... just ...like ... you! We can write the request for coverage today ... but you won't need to pay any money for it until next year! Your first payment will be sent from your bank ... automatically ... but not until January! So, Miss Gonzales, go get your bank information and your State ID and ... we'll get this all set up for you ... with the special ... January ... payment option!"

Yep yep. While 90% of the agents take December off, the rest of us have killer months.
