Glad this thread was not on the bible. It would have already been reported and moved.
Christians tend to be a bit more contentious with each other than Buddhists or those who follow one of the many Krishna/Bhakti traditions.
You put Buddhists or Bhakti yogis in a room and they will talk among themselves about how much they have in common. Christians will often talk about differences, at least that has been my experience... and it is certainly borne out in some of the religion threads on the other section of this board.
(BTW, "yogi" means "practitioner" and "yoga" means "attach" or "harness" or "union" and its usage is to mean an attachment to spiritual life. There are many different yoga practices... in the West, the term "yoga" is today typically associated with Hatha Yoga and its asanas (postures) or as a form of exercise.
The Bhagavad Gita introduces distinctions such as Jnana Yoga ("yoga based on knowledge") vs. Karma Yoga ("yoga based on action".)
Bhakti yoga is one of the types of yoga mentioned in Hindu philosophies which denotes the spiritual practice of fostering loving devotion (bhakti) to a personal form of God.)
I know. TMI. But where else will you learn this stuff?
