This Upcoming AEP

I ain't gonna worry about anything that may or may not happen until..... "The Great Tater" tells me I need to.

I just hope this go-round the politicos aren't spewing all the repeal obamacare rhetoric again. Thus making enrollments more difficult for us.

Ratt N' Roll

Nothing about the implementation of Obamacare has been proactive. It is all reactive.

They have no clue what they did or how it has impacted the prior (to 2014) system.

There is no reason to believe this will be any different.

It's gonna be a lot busier, with half the amount of time for AEP

PPACA enrollees expected to double in 2015 | BenefitsPro

And got this email from Humana today:

The states of Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin have adopted the extended transitional policy. Humana has also elected to adopt the extended transition policy in these states and will continue to allow members to keep their Non-Grandfathered Non-ACA policies under the defined rules provided by each state.

In the remaining states of Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, Oklahoma, and Virginia, the state either did not adopt the extended transitional policy or Humana has elected not to continue coverage under the Non-Grandfathered Non-ACA policies.

Obama's Illinois IS (of course) allowing Insurers to keep pre-2014 plans until the end of 2016, if they wanted to. Looks like Humana wants to get rid of my IL clients anyway however. Oh well, Humana's loss will be BCBS-IL's gain. Since Illinois agents didn't receive notice yet, Humana must be carefully crafting an agent & insured letter that explains why they're going against the state and President Obama's wishes.

Thanks for sharing this info, YAgents!

Spoke with a carrier rep this week. Rep said they are still lobbying hard with CMS/HHS not to have to re-enroll everyone. Hopefully they can come up with something.

I agree this AEP will be crazier than last. Especially since we have such a short time. Those wanting 1/1/15 effective dates will have to submit by 12/15/14. That makes it really busy from 11/15 to 12/15.

The 2016 AEP is back to 10/15 to 12/15 from what I am told. That will make it even worse.

Is the Medicare Advantage open-enrollment period overlapping the ObamaCare open-enrollment timeframe this year? BCBS is asking if we want to certify for 2014 M.A. sales. Doing both simultaneously would be impossible wouldn't it?
