Web Design, Why Does It Matter ?

Im not trying to be mean, but based on the design of your site I would never use your web services.

The only saving grace on your site is the gallery of examples of webpages you have done. They look much better than your own website...

I'm not trying to be mean, but with your own website looking like its designed by a 10 year old that's a very bold claim.

Ok seriously guys, I didn't come here to argue with any of you. I have lots of better stuff to do with my day than sit on a forum and argue with random people.

What I did come here for is to offer some genuine advice and help. And also web design services to anyone who needs them.

Also few more things:
1. I have gotten alot of compliments on my site by people who understand web design (no offense to you guys). If I wanted a normal site, I could easily make one.

2. I'm sorry for the circus this thread turned out to be, that was not my intention. If anyone wants to delete it, go for it. Lots of garbage in here anyway.

3. As CHUMPS said, you guys are probably concerned if I can deliver a good insurance website or not, so I decided the first 3 people that contact me about websites, they will get one for 299$(these are custom ones, not templates and it takes alot of work to create one) and I won't charge until the person is satisfied with the finished website. What it also means is if you don't like the site, you can walk away without paying. And no, you can't walk away with the site if you don't like it.

Only prerequisite is the person who orders a website must have over 500 posts.

The one website of mine that you have seen, which is not my main site and is basically just a huge experiment, and is designed by myself (an insurance professional, not a web design professional) shouldnt look as good as a professional doing it.

But since your claiming to be a professional at this, your site should look top notch.... and it looks worse than mine.
The home page doesnt even fit to the screen properly.

And my self designed site that has cost me less than $100 has made me a few thousand so far.

Have fun spamming your services!

Here is the thing. Your site shouldnt be designed to get compliments from web design people.
It should be designed so that it gets compliments from prospects!
It should be easy for your prospects to navigate and understand what you do and how you can help.
With your profession you will be judged by your website more than anything.

Its a creative design, I will give you that.

But imo, speaking as someone who very likely could have been a potential client of yours.
Your site is not user friendly.

You can take me as being mean, and you can talk trash about my site all day long. But I am trying to be constructive.

You came her claiming to be a web design expert.
I came her claiming to be an insurance expert.
Nobody expects me to be able to make a stellar site.
But if you claim to be a web expert you damn well better have a site that is top notch.

Out of curiosity, how many of those people that complimented you have sites that are similar to yours?
Why do you think that is?

You have had multiple potential prospects tell you that your site is not user friendly.
Instead of being defensive and attacking people, I would suggest you take it as constructive criticism.

Trust me, I can take constructive criticism but I am a designer I want to be better and stand out from the other designers.

I also know that the specific design of sydrial, turns off more business oriented people so I understand your criticism. So maybe I'll make a section of the site which I can show to business oriented people.

But my offer still stands, if someone is interested to see if we can design a good insurance site, you won't pay unless you are happy with the design.

"so I decided the first 3 people that contact me about websites, they will get one for 299$(these are custom ones, not templates and it takes alot of work to create one) and I won't charge until the person is satisfied with the finished website. "

The last Forum "web design gurus" made an offer to give away five free websites. Of course, they disappeared a few weeks later.

That said, your offer seems fair and hopefully someone will bite. I do think the longer you participate in this Forum, the more credibility you will gain.

True, though I think web designers have a really bad name around here. Something I should know ?

This forum get over 100,000 views per month. Most people (95%) read but don't participate. Ignore the 2 to 4 vocal people who don't want you here. Put 'em on ignore if you want.

Participate - let your link be your "ad." The more you participate the better you'll do here. I get these calls constantly; "I don't post on the forum but wanted to know more about your websites....."

You busted hard on someone's site who's been a very valuable contributor here for many years because you felt attacked and felt the need to attack back. Ignore that urge - it will cause you a lot of harm.

Give 2 sites away for free. Your ROI will be fantastic.
