Web Design, Why Does It Matter ?

Trust me, I can take constructive criticism

Lets recap, I said that based on your professionally designed site I wouldnt use you as a designer.
You retorted that my self designed site looks like a 10 year old did it.

Yep. You take criticism very well!

Since I am not a web professional and you are; that would be like me saying to you that you know as much as a 10 year old about insurance.

I also know that the specific design of sydrial, turns off more business oriented people so I understand your criticism. So maybe I'll make a section of the site which I can show to business oriented people.

And you are soliciting your services to business people on here. Which is why you received the response you did.

If I was opening a library your website would be perfect.

True, though I think web designers have a really bad name around here. Something I should know ?

Yes. We get 5 of you guys a month that come on here, post a few general comments, and then expect to solicit their services to all of us.

Try being a sincere and constructive contributor to the forum and you will gain a lot more business than posting long threads about how much you know.

Try responding to threads without being prompted.

In otherwords, contribute to the forum in a meaningful way. Not just to try to sell your services (which very obviously is what you are here to do).

I agree with alot of stuff you said, but there is still alot of irony in your post. I mean, when I said your site looks like a 10yr old made it(sorry, but it really looks that way) you went ahead and made a post to prove its better than my site. Yep, you don't take criticism too.

Now lets just drop this and stop wasting each others time, I am sure you have something more productive to do with your time and me as well.

I was simply looking for feedback. I didnt expect people to be kind to my site or necessarily rank it better than yours. I did/do however believe they are on a similar level when it comes to usability.

I am not happy with the aesthetics of my site at all. And I have stated that on here before multiple times.

I have also posted on this site about how I have been considering a web designer for sc-lifeinsurance. (I believe I even started a thread about it, I cant remember though)
If you bothered reading or contributing to old threads before selling your services, you would have known that. I have even spoken to a few web design guys via this forum.
I also have one other existing site, and 2 possible sites in the works.

Here is the thing about my post:
From my posting I have received valuable feedback about my site and how to improve its usability and aesthetics.

I didnt expect better results than you.
The system wouldnt let me make a poll, but when I tried to the possible answers were:
a. mine
b. yours
c. they both suck

I expected C to be the majority of the responses.

But I was a possible customer of yours who gave you honest feedback about your site in a conversation that had become about your site and how it looked... and you just bashed my site instead.
Im sure that will really make potential clients want to show you their site...

Do you see my point? Not only do you come her just to sell your services, but you condescend people as well?
Im not the one who initially called your site out as not being user friendly.

What's to redesign? Your site is very clean, professional and easy to navigate.

His site could be responsive.

Im on a 50 inch screen so the resolution is different, and his social media icons are overlapping the content on the right side of the screen.

But as im sure will be pointed out, my site isnt responsive either.

Other than that its a nice homepage

All things being what they may, the site below is certainly not "pretty" but it is a very effective insurance web site, and that comes from Anthem Blue Cross, not just my opinion.
