Website Analytics

Re: Analytics

Most websites have a program on their control panel that shows traffic to yourwebsite.

Also, google has a nice free program that does the same thing.

Re: Analytics

What about the thing in the control panel that comes with your hosting company that shows traffic?

It looks like it does a good job.

Re: Analytics

awstats is good (the thing in cpanel your web host gives you)

Google analytics is good.

If you use google analytics, put it at the END of your page though, in the footer, not in the header. If you insert it in the header it can really slow down page load speed.

Re: Analytics

i use google analytics ... i'm happy with it, but can someone please point out any disadvantages?

It clues google in to exactly who is visiting your site and what they're doing while on the site, which unless they're using chrome google can't see 100% of.

I would use AWStats or something third party if you're not 100% using white-hat kosher methods for all content generation and nothing on the site is duplicate.
