Website Analytics

in my wordpress site, i type in google analytics, and there are dozens of them to chose,

Which one?

No need to use a plugin, just go get the code, open the template editor, open the footer code, and paste it at the bottom before </body></html>

Also, try jetpack for wordpress, its got nice analytics features, it's their built in thing.

thats true and if ur using a premium wp theme, many have a section to paste the GA code so u dont have to open the footer php file

Its easier on the ones with the analytics box in the plugin, if you do the paste into the footer method if you update the template it will overwrite the code if there was a change to the footer.

Footer file doesn't usually change very often though, never had it overwrite.

Google Analyticator or All in one webmaster. Also make sure you have google xml sitemaps plugin installed. Better yet is to use a premium wordpress them that has a place for you to put it in without touching the code. I recommend themes by Studiopress. Stay away from the code if you don't know how to code! Your site will be messed up if you place the code in the wrong section.

Also, piwik open source analytics, with wp-piwik plugin. Keeps all your data on your server, and doesn't send it to google and gives you more info than google analytics does. Costs nothing, does require installing the program on your server, which is almost as hard to install as wordpress.
