What is the Best Way to Get Started?

I'm a UK basketball junkie. The Philly wasn't a guess, you got the other Wildcats at Nova.

I despise them, but there is another Wildcat basketball team out here in AZ that hasn't been too shabby over the years...

@ Ben, thanks but not going into the bad 'hoods. No way... and probably won't be out in the evening/after dark. Not safe, and I know that. I hope you are right about females...

@JD, thanks for the info about RNA and DANG Figi! the island, wow what a great trip that would be.

I've spoken with Todd - super helpful. I know I could make more money on my own, but being captive you have more of the corporate team thing... still processing it all & deciding.

If u go the non-captive route & looking for an IMO to join that will supply u with leads weekly, try Equita and a top group to join with them is MIGWarriors. Whichever u go, ask a lot of questions about training, support, commissions, carriers, etc!

Good Luck!!

Nothing wrong with MIG, but the best group within EFES is the Travis Tubbs' group.

He is Senior Benefits Services. He offers higher contracts than any of the other managers and I think the best support group. He is not as hands on for a new agent, so if one needs that then the other groups are probably better. Travis is the opposite of a micro-manager.

Cool JD, Shannon doesnt micro manage at all....he never calls me, I call him! I dont know how long its gonna take me, but Im going to be good at this & will elevate MIG's group even more. Travis doesnt sound like hes a good fit for me, I ask A LOT of questions! I hope to be around more & be on that leaderboard reg! Im starting this thurs with door knocking & hope to be full time by March!

Hi all,

I am a licensed agent, and looking to get into FE, med. supp., annuities, ltc. What is the best route to take - go with an agency and give up some comm. $ in exhange for their leads & admin support.

or, buy the leads, my E&O insurance, and just go for it?

Need some guidance here... trying not to make the wrong decision. Thanks!
:err:

I would strongly suggest that what ever you do, do not assign your commissions regardless of how good a deal it sounds or what you are promised unless you are positive you know what the long term ramifications are.

Learn to prospect and be an independent agent. Most regret having started with an insurance agency.

You mentioned four different products. They are all great and tailor-made for the senior market. Two of them go together like a hand and glove, Med Supps and FE. They are the easiest to learn, get "in the door" with and to sell. Annuities are more involved and I have found LTCi to have a pretty steep learning curve and a lot more difficult to sell.

They are great products to cross sell to your Med Supp clients.

I suggest you master one product first and become successful at it before you start adding a bunch more. Most of the agents who I have seen fail in this business started out trying to be all things to all people.
