You know. All this talk about leads reminds me of when I was a teenager. Maybe like 13.
My grandfather had an insurance office I would work in on summer vacation. His office was this old house right across the street from the post office. It had this shed next to it that he converted to a mail house in the back.
Every summer I would sit in that hot shed and print out a bunch of these thick stock papers fold them a certain way and stuff them in an envelope. Then I'd put stickers on the envelope with someone's name on it and put them in this big box, then take them all to the post office at the end of every day.
One day I was starving and like man…. My grandfather won't let me take a lunch until I've worked at least four hours. To hell with this thing that licks the envelopes for me. I'm going to lick these myself. Boom. Paper cut. Ruined that whole summer.
I didn't realize those were direct mail pieces he was printing and mailing out until my first day in this business. Never once did I take the time to read one.
Got my first batch of leads and was like oh?? That's what those were.
Then I start doing the math. Hmmm. 6 dollars and hour and I stuffed thousands of these a day. Why are these $12 each!!???? Hahahaha.
