No one said assault rifles. I agree that military grade weaponry should probably not be in civilian hands though.
I think most people agree with common sense gun regulation. However, gun lobbyist make the argument that the government wants to completely restrict gun use to polarize the issue.
Also, there are far left weirdos that just say all guns are bad. Just like there are right weirdos that think there should be no restrictions on guns.

I would guess they are mostly illegal guns especially since you see similar trends in other gun restrictive states and cities like Chicago NY and NJ among others
