EFES Newbie

You are imagining correctly; get the health license too. You'll never be sorry you did, but if you don't do it now there's a good chance you'll regret it later.
Thanks, Todd. I've found an online prelicensing company (I can do it all online in Cali. Yay! But still need to take the state exam in person) where I can do both. It's 20 hours each here. Fortunately since I already have my P&C license I get to skip the extra 12 hours of ethics.

Brand new here. Spent several years in the wholesale E&S world (Surplus Lines; Prop & Casualty; E&O, D&O). Learning a lot on this forum about FE. Thinking about getting my Life Only license and diving in. Thanks to all those who post, especially Newby and JDEasy. Contemplating Asurea and EFES. Here good things about both, but mostly about EFES. Just ran across a RipOff report post online from May 22, 2013 from an unhappy agent with EFES. He says they put another agent in his protected area and were selling the same leads to both agents. The EFES market was Ryan Caras. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post the link but an easy search can unearth it.

I'm in SoCal. Thoughts anyone??? Is this something for me to worry about? How large are EFES territories generally?

Thanks,
SAF

EFES doesn't sell leads to more than one agent unless the other agent is no longer on the program and then those leads are considered Bonus leads not "A" leads

I have been to the EFES office in Dallas and when the lead is assigned into one agents box it can not be duplicated into another box... at least this is what they showed me and told me

but nevertheless i don't hear agents moaning about this often enough to really believe it myself

Nothing against Newby, he's a straight shooter & Ive steered ppl his way. But from what I remember....Newby doesnt have time to train new agents & I believe even said as much before somewhere on here. If SAF is totally new, EFES with all the training could be better, but im sure he could succeed either place.

FEXcontracting.com offers all the same training EFES can, with higher commission levels.

One major issue I had with EFES's "training" is that a new agent would come on after being a Lincoln Heritage agent for 5 years. So his first month he does 20K. It's a new name on the leader board and all EFES agents want to hear what this new persons secret is. So to make the agents happy they let this new guy speak on a national call to share is secrets.

The reality is this "guy" as only received very few leads and that his production was him simply rolling 5 years worth of his old business. Then a month later he has vanished from the leader board all together. However, for that one month he was a Final Expense Jesus....

This scenario has happened many, many times.

I want to hear agents that have success selling from the leads, not rolling business.

Excellent point Travis, thanks....never thought of that.

One more thought on that rolling business not from leads topic....

That is used a recruiting tool also. When a new agent calls in looking for information and talks to a marketer they will hear..

"This job is easy anyone can do it, we just had an agent last month do 25K in his first month!!! Here's the contracts join the program!"

That may be the truth, but not the whole truth.

How about, "work 2 days a week and make $200,000 a year"?
