EFES Newbie

So with direct mail leads like that what is a practical closing ratio?
Assume you are a new agent? If so, I would not think it would be nay where close to what JD does. He has been perfecting his craft for several years. Just guessing, a new agent would probably be doing good to sit down with 50% of the leads received and to close 30% of those. That would be about a 15% ratio to total leads received.

So with direct mail leads like that what is a practical closing ratio?

From what I've read/seen...

15-20% For brand new agents
20-25% For most agents with some exp
25-30% For the top agents
30%+ For a select few, very rare

I'm still striving to be in that 25-30% range consistently long term.

Hope that helps!

Brand new here. Spent several years in the wholesale E&S world (Surplus Lines; Prop & Casualty; E&O, D&O). Learning a lot on this forum about FE. Thinking about getting my Life Only license and diving in. Thanks to all those who post, especially Newby and JDEasy. Contemplating Asurea and EFES. Here good things about both, but mostly about EFES. Just ran across a RipOff report post online from May 22, 2013 from an unhappy agent with EFES. He says they put another agent in his protected area and were selling the same leads to both agents. The EFES market was Ryan Caras. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to post the link but an easy search can unearth it.

I'm in SoCal. Thoughts anyone??? Is this something for me to worry about? How large are EFES territories generally?

Thanks,
SAF

I take rip off reports with a grain of salt.. Agents fail.. Agents blame everyone but themselves.

I don't know anything of the complaint you have there but Rip off Reports in general is usually a lot of bogus whiners. It's not a reliable source of information.

If a company is making a lot of agents mad, this forum is the best place to learn about it.

Also don't forget about http:www.fexcontracting.com as a consideration for your upline. We would be happy to have you.

SAF, you should take Newby up on his offer.

It is a beautiful day in East Tennessee this morning.. Woke up looking at down on the blades of the grass instead looking up at the roots. Hope everybody has a great day!

Nothing against Newby, he's a straight shooter & Ive steered ppl his way. But from what I remember....Newby doesnt have time to train new agents & I believe even said as much before somewhere on here. If SAF is totally new, EFES with all the training could be better, but im sure he could succeed either place.

Welcome SAF,

Nice last name, same as mines....Im with EFES & in Socal. The forum is a great place to learn & convinced me to go into FE. No IMO will be perfect & there's some things I dont like about EFES, but its a good place to be to start for sure.

What you have to worry about (and you dont have to answer on here) is if you have a good work ethic? Are looking to go full or part time? And are you willing to work hard and make FE your main focus?

As far as territories, thats decided by YOU...EFES will give u zip codes that are "open" and u choose which ones u want & how many?

What part of Calif are you in?

Thanks for all the replies, everyone.

I'm in Northwest Riverside County, just East of OC.

It's funny... up until a week ago I had never considered selling insurance, especially Life/Health/Personal Lines, and had never heard of FE. I've learned a lot the past week. I'm really excited about the possibilities. I spent the past 8 years in real estate but it's been extremely difficult and am looking to get back into insurance. The leads are the big deal maker as far as FE.

As far as work ethic, I feel I can transfer a lot of what I did in RE to insurance sales. The BIG failing point for real estate for me was a complete lack of referrals... clients were getting divorced & moving out of the area, people retiring and moving out of the state, etc. I've also only lived here 8 years and have never been much of a 'joiner' when it comes to church, bar hopping, social clubs, etc. so I never got referrals that way either. I was great at doorknocking, roll-playing my scripts, great at listing presentations and negotiating the deal, it was just he overall lack of leads that were ultimately killing me!

Yes, I'm strongly considering EFES. I need the training. I also need to get my Life Only license. I would imagine I should get my Health license as well. I've noticed some people sell Med Supp and use it as a 'gateway drug' to FE.

Regards,
SAF

You are imagining correctly; get the health license too. You'll never be sorry you did, but if you don't do it now there's a good chance you'll regret it later.
