You drive 350 miles for an appointment?? I hope it wasn't a no-show! Wow..

----------

Me to  Since it so CA it will be 8 hr drive. But I will work back and hang with one of my sons. Completely prequalified. Went over every app question gave him the lowest price plus the one I recommended and why. But yeah you never know. I do not drive that far often for a meeting. But 3.5 hours I do a couple times a month some months.

The first year AP on his 84 yr old mother's deal is very nice, But he is a friend/referral from a Farmers guy that sends me a lot of deals and a evangelical pastor for a nice size congregation so the future business is where I am hoping the bigger money will be. Hang out with my boy in SD, pick up a meeting or two in LA the next day or two on my way home. Lazy man working.

You have to take care of the referrals and you never know what they'll bring. I recently had some clients recommend me to one of their friends who was turning 65 and needed a Med Supp. He procrastinated until he was past the Open Enrollment before he called me. Because of being overweight, having Congestive Heart Failure and a few other things, the only thing he could qualify for was GI BCBS. It pays a whopping $9 a month commission with no advance. Because it was a referral, I drove the 60 mile round trip to get my $9.

Worked out ok because him and his wife took FE out for $1,400 commissions. You never know.

ha ha on Siri I find her correcting door knock the same way. Thanks for the input. About Jane versus Steve which one seems to work better can you mix it up?

I preferred Jane over Steve. So does my appointment setter. And she works with a lot of agents using the avatar leads.

Some areas you definitely need to mix it up. If they blast the an area too long Steve will start making the papers LOL.

You made him a client.

No I don't. I think I need 30-40 Of these leads to equal 20 DM. People that respond to telemarketing are a strange bunch. For one, they have never added them selves to the do not call list. Secondly, and the situation, they are talking to a recording and most don't even realize it. Telemarketing leads also seem to pull sicker folks and crazier time wasters.

Plus, as already stated, because you're only dealing with folks that are not on the do not call list, you will have to move areas much more frequently. If you don't reach someone in the first week or two, then you've already moved on. The shelf-life on telemarketing leads is nothing like direct mail. i've also found it's difficult to Dornach tell marketing leads. But that may just be me. I've not door knocked in a long time for any length of time. But it's obviously easier to knock a door with something they read, filled out, and mailed in.

I'll top of that, if you have an amendment or you have to rewrite somebody, again you've already moved on to a new area most likely, so will eat up a lot of your time and gas to do so.

I've written a lot off of the Stephen Jane leads. And I will recommend them to anybody that wants to use them in a non-urban setting. That being said, I wish I had been doing direct mail all along and supplementing them with these type of leads. Now, i've overworked areas so much, but unless I mail to a heavily populated urban area, there's no way I could get many Jane leads in the same area that I'm dropping mail.

I used Siri to type the above response. So if it sounds like English is my second language, I blame Apple.

Good post. I am on the fence with my marketing expenses and am not sure if I should use it for TM or DM but your post has helped me. What mail house do you use, if any? If you do them yourself can you tell me how to go about doing that as I have never used DM before? I would really appreciate it

You made him a client.

I am going to do a 500 mile round trip wednesday for 2 med supps and a PDP. Both are former school teachers and he is the current county judge. I figure driving to the middle of nowhere to help folks out is bound to generate referrals.

I use a super-secret installation in the Rocky Mountains. ;)

Seriously, there are plenty of good mail houses. Do a search and you will find dozens of threads on the subject.

Really you should get with your upline on how/where to mail? Who is your upline by the way?

Hoosier life is spot on. Think about how many calls these Tm leads that aren't on the dnc list get.I bet some get pounded 10-15 times a week. So to answer a machine and not know it they must be screwed up.As Hoosier said the tm leads seem to be much sicker than dm leads is my experience. A lot of time wasters. The way to use these is to 100 % fill in the cracks of dm leads are you could be driving 500 miles a day if they're your only source of leads.

So should I wait by the phone for you to call me to set up lunch? I assume you'll buy.
