Equita and Securus Guys, Step Inside Please...

No we don't charge for training... but sometimes a new agent would like their manager to run their leads... if this is the case then usually the agent will split the business with the manager for the day...

example:
new agent goes out and runs five leads with no training = no sales
new agent goes out with a 20-30K producer and takes five leads and sells three apps for 2300 in AP (split the business) so they both take home 1150 in AP.

agent wants to ride with manager they get trained for free... i was saying IMO they should at least offer to buy someone lunch...

your missing the point of the story... the point is get trained or drown if you are new... I cant express enough to new agents on here that make sure you are aligned with someone that cares about your success not just their overrides..

That is brutal. If you are getting an override, there is nothing to stop you from spending at least one day in the field showing them how to work leads. I can understand months later, but first day out in the field? Work for your override, unless you really don't plan on your agents sticking around.

Same with lunch. It is going to kill you to pay $10 or so for lunch for a new agent that you plan to have producing for you for years?

It is your business, but really seems penny wise and pound foolish to me.

one of my managers drove from east texas to Missouri last month to train his agent.... he had to pay for gas and a hotel just to get to the other agent...

we don't bring on multiple agents in one territory...therefore 99 percent of the time there is a lot of travel involved in someone getting trained....

you guys are missing the point here... it is about training being a necessity...

Sounds like they need to either recruit closer to home or learn to budget in business expenses. It is very penny wise and pound foolish behavior if there is override involved. Just how much override is the manager getting off this agent?

I completely agree with the training. I came into this business captive and was trained extensively. My manager did not split business with me. I kept it all including the ones, most, where I kept my mouth shut the whole time . Lead cost was zero.

Your managers(recruiters) have to drive and spend time with their agents? So? How much does it cost them once this person starts producing year after year? What do they do to earn the override year after year? What does the manager's managers do to earn the vig they rake off of the rookie agent.

Sounds like I am banging on you. I am not. But the whole, we care about the agent not just the override does not mesh with what you posted.

i have implemented a promotional guideline so that the agent can not be held down... production always talks and when raises are earned then i help enforce them on behalf of the agent

My experience at EFES, anytime I want a training ride, I just meet my manager in his territory, and watch him present his leads.
He will also let me present, usually he takes over for the final close. There is always a 'code' that means I need to hand it over to him if the lead starts getting squirley early into the presentation.
It's not a bad deal...I haven't paid for these leads, I don't burn my gas, I get to make presentations w/o risk, and get good feedback in the end. The hardest part is getting him to pull over for a bathroom break! haha

I don't think I've ever taken him into my territory with my leads to split 50%. Why screw up my leads, when I can screwe up his for free, lol.
He never asks me to pay for lunch, and he dosn't pay for mine.

For his brand new agents, the built in lag time of getting mail in is a perfect opprotunity to ride with him all week...no charge!

Cmon...the dropout rate is so high, and it really is a PITA to have a rider...how much investment is a manager really expected to put into someone that has a 50% chance of making it more than 1 month.

Sounds like you have a good one. On the drop out rate, that may go more to recruiting qualities. I do not do adult daycare any longer. but when I did I was very picky.
