First Day Coverage for Sleep Apnea

Man you guys way over think these apps for FE.

I have placed many Sleep Apnea cases with immediate coverage with most carriers. It is not COPD or Oxygen use.

Sleep Apnea is an obstructive disorder but not a chronic pulmonary one as COPD (black lung, chronic asthma, chronic bronchitis, cystic fibrosis and emphysema). As long as an APS shows that it is only an obstructive disorder it is a standard table 2 rating for fully underwritten plans. Like most issues, the complications are the problem, especially for age 60+ and that is why FE underwriting uses its broad stroke.

It is basically a condition that the airway is to small on certain sleeping positions and requires assistance by pushing room air down the airway with the machine. If undiagnosed and untreated, it can be deadly, causing High Blood Pressure, enlarged Heart and other Pulmonary Issues.

Quit trying to put these cases under age 60 with FE companies and try full underwriting. You will fair much better.

The issue isn't sleep apnea. It is the use of oxygen. If they were using a cpap, bipap, or any other device specifically designed for sleep apnea, it wouldn't be an problem.

In your specific case of Oxygen use for Sleep Apnea you are correct. This is only about 10% of Sleep Apnea cases though.

My response was to the others that were off track during this thread and to help in recognizing it. As I am also a CPAP user for Sleap Apnea.

Read the thread all the way through. The OP is talking about OXYGEN with the use of a CPAP machine. Some of the other posts were a sidetrack talking about how some FE companies word their questions and if oxygen use just with the CPAP could get by. Like Americo which asks if they use oxygen to assist in breathing. Some consider the use of oxygen just with the CPAP to be a no to that question. Americo said wrong it is a yes. Sounds like 5 Star words it the same way. NO one is disputing sleep apnea for immediate coverage. NO one is "off track".

I apologize if my comments are misleading. I am talking straight oxygen from a tank, independent of a CPAT. If she were on a CPAT, I think I would be golden.

Tilt /.

That changes the discussion a bit. :-)

Right lol. I didn't want to say it but we oughta just start a new thread.

If she uses O2 less than twice a week she can still 1st day with 5 star.
