First Day Coverage for Sleep Apnea

No, on those apps the "any" would knock them out. 5 Star is not worded that way. What you need to do is get a 5 Star app.

Where is your upline on this?

Upline thinks this doesn't apply to sleep apnea, and is advising me to call Americo for clarification, which I plan on doing first thing in the morning. I will post what they tell me.

Your upline may be right on Americo because it's worded similar to 5 Star. But I will be surprised if that's the answer you get when you call Americo.

If I thought that was the case then I would write the app. But I'm more of a beg for giveness type than a ask for permission type anyway.

So, does that mean you would just answer the question "no"?

I would think more agents would be up to speed on sleep apnea. There is no use of oxygen but it does provide (room air) continuous positive airway pressure. Some might construe that as an assist to the breathing process while sleeping.
As always, ask your upline who should ask an underwriter.
I suppose the more questions you ask this way, the more answers you will get that you might not want to hear.
If you have a question about oxygen, ask the prospect if they have an oxygen tank.

Thanks, I did ask, and she says she does use an oxygen tank, but insists it is just for sleep apnea. I suspected it might be for something else, she is a smoker, but I asked her several times, and she said it was for sleep apenea each time.

Oxygen use is oxygen use, sleep apnea or otherwise. When an Rx screen is pulled the O2 is going to pop up. I may not be familiar with every carriers rules on this but I don't know of one that would issue this as immediate covg if the question is answered correctly.

I've read over this thread I am still unclear on who might issue this as immed covg with O2 use. Is there a carrier that will do so...? :1confused:

I personally have about as bad a case of sleep apnea as you can get. When I went in for my sleep study I was supposed to sleep hooked up to monitors for 6-hours. They woke me up after 1-hour and told me they thought I was going to die right there on them. They hooked me up to a C-pap to finish the night. I wouldn't go one night without it now. It's a life changer.

But I don't use oxygen. I use room air. I'm no doctor but I don't think anyone uses oxygen just for sleep apnea. They must also have COPD or something in addition to it.

I know a little about this and I can't see where the O2 would really help in a serious apnea situation due to the fact there is not sufficient pressure to keep the airway open and assist the breathing.

A person that has a cpap machine is a huge risk removed from an insurance company the person that has SA and hasn't been diagnosed with it and doesn't have a cpap is a huge risk.

I lost a friend to this a few years ago he was in the process of "considering" the purchase of a cpap machine the $2000 price tag put him off .........
