Hiring Telemarketers?

You do run into a lot of BS with telemarketers. My agency has pretty much stopped using telemarketing because I'm working on networking, local branding, etc., but I had one TM that did the best job I've seen. I paid her $15/hr, but she consistently got me 3 leads per hour that she worked. If you would like her information, PM me.

I suggest you guys get the book The 4-Hour Workweek ( see fourhourworkweek dot com). In there, Tim Ferris details how to outsource and use foreign companies to do all kinds of menial tasks for you. They're typically about about $5 her hour and are MUCH more effective than using the "typical" American. They are hard working, dedicated, and cost nothing in employment costs, office space, etc. Many have no detectable foreign accent and have a very professional demeanor. There are no large startup costs and the only thing you pay is the hourly rate.

I'm thinking this would be a great opportunity for you guys with an effective script to see if these outsourcing firms could produce! Just an idea.. it's a great book (4-hour workweek), too!

I hang up on overseas telemarketers.

Seriously, hiring any sort of staff person isn't about what you pay them per hour, it's about what they produce. It's not worth trying to save a few dollars on the telemarketing costs to only get a much lower return.

In short, if you pay $5 an hour, you'll get $5 an hour leads. If you pay $15 an hour, you'll get $15 an hour leads, which usually are MUCH better. This isn't always true, but it is what you should expect, and then make decisions from there.

I think that when they're doing survey-type calls - that is, asking if they have health insurance, are happy with their present health insurance or if they're aware of less expensive rates through an agent that shops that market - these are quantitative calls rather than qualitative. To the extent that they can speak perfectly good english and have a pleasant conversation - it's about getting through the numbers. The only outstanding variable, all else being equal, is the cost you're paying.

I have found that telemarketing itself can be made infinitely more effective with a simple strategy of marketing and follow up automation. We've grown our agency by almost $500,000 in annual, recurring revenue with a combination of 20-40 hours of cold calling a month, an effective internet marketing campaign and, most importantly, implementing a system that automates the marketing and follow up with ever single interested contact (we use iFusion MAS...www,ifusionx,com) I'm of the opinion that telemarketing can be a great way to introduce yourself and your service, but without an automated strategy that can take timing out of the sales equation, I find it nearly impossible to get a return on my telemarketing investment.

Now that was helpful. Thank you!

BitnisSlim, you mentioned having a "friendly" list and a "strong" list. I guess a friendly list could be a group of people you have something in common with. How do you qualify a "strong" list?

You said you have an approved list and an approved script. Does that mean you work as something other than independent?

By friendly I mean it was from Company data base.

Strong meaning the brand is recognizeable to the person I
am calling. They have a need .

Dual eligible CMS approved great product and all that .
Medicare Advantage. Zero premium plan. Approved CMS script.

I am Independant .

I can check doctor and medicines on
phone if client wants. I do not mind walking away if product is not good for client.
I can keep a more efficient "route" doing my own telemarketing.

But when the others come back online , I will use them
because they do a great job. And I back to enrolling.
$20 a lead was my cost to them . If no show or not a presentation given I do not pay for the lead.

I give credit to the product and the client because I am not there to sell in this case. I have been told I am convincing, though. I like sales, it's just not needed .

I do have something in common with these people so far. I talk slow. And a few other things.

Thanks,

Slim

PLEASE allow me a simple retraction which follows:

I do not know anything about anything. I am a dufus.
Except for the fact I talk slow, I retract all I said in this post. It seems since I am the lst to know , my posts
on this thread are currently worthless. If you are
confused so am I .

Please , if you have a few LIFE prospects you want me
to be paid on ... tell me now.

I have no idea how to pick up a phone and dial. I take back everything I ever said to you . :skeptical: May I delete everything I said here?
