Is it seriously Possible to be a Part-Time Agent

I'm more of a counter-puncher, therefore I provide facts in rebuttal to claims made which beg clarification. I will say that while I agree that the insurance industry may have some select elements of MLM in it, there is a huge difference between MLM and insurance.

If you say so

Ok so I'll politely bow out of this conversation. You still did not actually reply to my question on multiple attempts.

I will treat you like a direct mail lead that won't give me a clear/coherent response to why they sent the card in.

I too have not been following, but I tend to agree with the notion that most of the industry (life insurance in general) is MLM.

Very view organization prohibit selling agents from building a downline (or at least earning the right to).

An agent that doesn't know what they are doing, has not been successful on a regular and sustained basis, or doesn't have two pennies to rub together should NOT be recruiting in new agents. However, there are some IMO's that simply dont care about this.

Thats MLM at its finest.

Seems bitter over a past experience and can't get over it to move on.
He was obviously burnt by Primerica and he's on a mission to warn other agents so the same thing doesn't happen to them. Toolbelt's performing a community service to the insurance community. Thank you toolbelt.

I believe the topic was can someone justify being a part time agent, assuming that justification includes making enough income to make it worthwhile. Seeing as the MLM industry promotes the "part time" aspect as a key feature of its opportunity, it appears some here don't consider it a good example to analyze as far as potential as a part time gig. Interesting.

As has been said, the insurance industry has different levels of MLM. There are several successful insurance agents on here that started part time. Two of them have posted to you in this thread...DayTimer and HoosierLife. Rearden is another.

It is not a good example. I have worked in this business on full time and a part time basis. You can be part time and certainly make enough to make it more than worth while if you are willing to work. The Primericas of the world are far removed from an independent agent choosing to work part time on his/her own. Last month, I banked $5K on a part time basis and no down line. This month, it has only been a little over $1K but I have taken most of the month off to stay home with my wife after she had a hip replacement.

Hope she's getting better Louis. :)
