Land Of Lincoln

Do you guys see all of your LL clients in Broker Portal? I can only see around 20% of my LL book of business. I called them and was told that it may take couple of weeks before it will be fixed.

I won't look until around January 10th. Freaked out last year because I looked too soon. LOLH is a completely different animal than what we're used to when it comes to clients being eligible for portal display.

Well, that's good news - I guess. Now why weren't they answering their phones today? Not one single phone number seemed to work today and no email response back. I was afraid that they had shut down but this alleviates that concern.

Land of Lincoln Health wouldn't simply "shut down" overnight. They'd do a phase-out. From what we're seeing, and also hearing through the grapevine, the phase-out has begun. I hope LOLH has the integrity to give 60-90 days advance notice before the actual closing down date is announced.

I also see that HealthCare.gov is going down for maintenance again tonight. Hopefully, there will be no LOLH plans shown on HC.gov tomorrow. This would be a good indicator that LOLH management is still mentally on the job.

Land of Lincoln Health has already been removed from the University of Chicago's website of accepted insurers.

Note: Blue Cross's 2016 On/Off Exchange Individual Plans are not accepted either. Only HARKEN and COVENTRY's modern QHPlans are accepted this year.

I noticed that the Alexian Brothers (Elk Grove Village) or St. Alexis (Hoffman Estates) medical centers are in any of the Land of Lincoln Health PPO networks for 2016. Now I know why...

Story: Alexian Brothers is 'in the dark' about its Land of Lincoln network status

I'm going to quickly look at my LOLH clients to ensure that none of them live close to either of these hospitals. In an medical emergency, this is where they would be taken. Only a few days left in Open Enrollment.

Land of Lincoln recently was made aware of incorrect rates being sent out in Oct 2015 for a 1/1/2016 effective date.

I have one client (one of 15) for ex. that received a letter in Oct of 2015 from Land of Lincoln Health stating that his premium would increase to $953.97 from $807.51. This was for a passive renewal if he did nothing to his current plan. He recently received a bill for $1088.09 for January invoice. He would like to know why their is an increase to his monthly premium of $134.12.

There system was unavailable until recently. They sent out letters to clients in the southern part of the state with the rating for the northern part of the state. (which of course where much higher for the southern part of IL). Many of our clients selected to stay w/LLH due to the letter they received in Oct. Now we have a few days left to make a change for March 1 st eff date if they do not want the increase.

Still no resolution because the have to get an exception with the CMS and the state for the accepted rates they filled for. Ugh!

LLH was a good option using the PHCS network in the southern part of the state. (where we only have Coventry or Health Alliance as viable options) Now the only option is Health Alliance for the price.

Bad enough when you call the customer service and they say the wait time is 60 mins.

Frustrated!!

I'm amazed and saddened while witnessing expensive medical claims, combined with the government pulling it's financial support prematurely, literally causing Land of Lincoln Health to melt like a snowman.

But even with disaster knocking at the door, LOLH is still paying my client's medical bills quickly and properly..and, paying us right on time every month.

This is akin to meeting someone you really like... who, shortly thereafter, contracts cancer and dies. Would it have been better to never have met that person? I'm afraid that's how I will feel if LOLH goes under.
:1eek:

There's not much new in this Crains article published today... However, it does contains a chart which shows Land of Lincoln's quarterly losses from 2014 thru 3Q 2015. I hadn't seen that before.

In response to Land of Lincoln Health's removal of University of Chicago medical centers from its health plans, a class-action lawsuit was filed today...
