Land Of Lincoln

January 26, 2016

I noticed that the Alexian Brothers (Elk Grove Village) or St. Alexis (Hoffman Estates) medical centers are in any of the Land of Lincoln Health PPO networks for 2016. Now I know why...

Story: Alexian Brothers is 'in the dark' about its Land of Lincoln network status

I'm going to quickly look at my LOLH clients to ensure that none of them live close to either of these hospitals. In an medical emergency, this is where they would be taken. Only a few days left in Open Enrollment.

Emergency is paid everywhere:1wink:

----------

Land of Lincoln recently was made aware of incorrect rates being sent out in Oct 2015 for a 1/1/2016 effective date.

I have one client (one of 15) for ex. that received a letter in Oct of 2015 from Land of Lincoln Health stating that his premium would increase to $953.97 from $807.51. This was for a passive renewal if he did nothing to his current plan. He recently received a bill for $1088.09 for January invoice. He would like to know why their is an increase to his monthly premium of $134.12.

There system was unavailable until recently. They sent out letters to clients in the southern part of the state with the rating for the northern part of the state. (which of course where much higher for the southern part of IL). Many of our clients selected to stay w/LLH due to the letter they received in Oct. Now we have a few days left to make a change for March 1 st eff date if they do not want the increase.

Still no resolution because the have to get an exception with the CMS and the state for the accepted rates they filled for. Ugh!

LLH was a good option using the PHCS network in the southern part of the state. (where we only have Coventry or Health Alliance as viable options) Now the only option is Health Alliance for the price.

Bad enough when you call the customer service and they say the wait time is 60 mins.

Frustrated!!
does he uses the Marketplace for enrollment?

Do you guys see all of your LL clients in Broker Portal? I can only see around 20% of my LL book of business. I called them and was told that it may take couple of weeks before it will be fixed.

Me too. Last year they were correcting if you send them right info - name and DOB.

That is correct ARus. But what about the many instances where people are driven to the closest hospital with chest pains. After thousands of $$$ in tests, the physicians conclude that Taco Bell's FIRE BURRITO was at fault.

Not an emergency + Out-of-Network Hospital = Big bill to pay and perhaps, legitimate cardiac pains.

I moved 2 clients who have Alexian Brothers as their closest hospital over to Harken Health PPO, just before the deadline this past weekend. The commission is lower, but it was the right thing to do. It's just too bad for LOLH that these two lost clients were healthy premium payers.

BCBS has one good site: they will negotiate the price before you should pay it. I was billed above 1000 in tests (have 6000 ded), but they negotiated the price and left to me $115. They didn't pay, just negotiated. The hospital sent me a mail for some reconsideration, but I don't think they will charge me more. :nah:

That's wonderful, ARus! Congratulations. There's a lot to be said for the influence of Blue Cross and their eagerness to negotiate medical bills downward.

Don't know if Land of Lincoln Health has that kind of influence yet, though. They're a baby in age and size, compared to Blue Cross. I didn't feel comfortable leaving my clients in a LOLH plan where their local Hospital is not in the PPO network.

I was informed my one of my clients today that just because LOL pre-certify a procedure it doesn't mean anything until the director approves of it. Then I heard the same thing from a another agent. I have only have 7 clients on the books with them I hope this is not true.

You mean the Director of the Hospital? Does LOLH have a bad reputation when it comes to paying medical providers for procedures?

No Allen they met the head of Land Of Lincoln. I find it hard to believe but I heard it from two different sources now.
