My Medicare Advantage Experience Thus Far...

I agree Rouse, which is why the aforementioned post in this thread seemed so disingenuous. Less than a year ago Matt was preaching a completely different sermon (see screenshot below). According to Spur City, just nine months ago, "agents would have a much better success rate if they concentrated on 1 thing and 1 thing only". That would for sure raise concern if I was a potential agent checking out different outfits.

As far as the "CMS chop shop" comment is concerned that remains to be seen. I know we at Equita (EFES) have many years to draw from as an organization since we basically have an in-house Medicare sales center, a regulations department for training in this, a president who has run large Medicare agencies for years AND none of them would recommend leading with, "My favorite is the HUMANA AOR", which is possibly removing a very helpful Medicare agent from the home in the first place.Screen Shot 2018-03-31 at 1.40.38 PM.png

Interesting to see some of the big time FE producers come around to the thinking that used to get me slammed on the forum.. Never understood leaving money on the table.. Once you have made the first sale to the client, all the others come easier. Plus, the more products you have in the house, the less likely the client is to let another agent in to talk to them. :)

Another thing people used to say about MA plans is that they were a large scale pain in the neck from a maintenance stand point. That doesn't seem to be the case for those of you posting on this thread does it?

Well, after being in the Insurance business over 12 years, even I, like other agents are open to change or other methods. All one has to do is look at my website TheInsuranceSquad.com where Brandon (Otto Graf) was singing my praises. Here’s what Brandon had to say not long ago:

“I’ve been working with Matt & The Insurance Squad for 2 years. I have to say it has definitely been the most productive 2 years of my career. Not only have I surpassed my sales goals but I’ve also qualified for numerous carrier incentive trips as a result. Additionally I’ve met countless top producers and managers over the years and I have to say The Insurance Squad is second to none. Not only is Matt easily accessible but we have access to a group of national top producers at the drop of a hat. On top of that the 24/7 group texts, continually updated industry-leading cheat sheets and weekly conference calls ensure that I continue to stay one step ahead of the average producer”.

I appreciate those kind words by the way Brandon, although now they seem so “disingenuous”. But as you can see, change can happen. Now you’re a “BUILDER”. Viewpoints can also change over time (even yours) and meeting our new Medicare mentor 6 months ago changed my mind. Took a BEAST like him to change my mind as I’m not so easily influenced. For MOST agents, I still believe it’s not a bad idea to master one before adding more to their plate. But I’ve seen some of our agents as of late be able to sell multiple policies with success.

As far as AOR’s. You are brand new to Med Adv. You will see once you have some real experience under your belt that clients don’t have a clue who their HUMANA agent is 9 out of 10 times. So yes, AOR making them my client is in their best interest. I happen to know a lil bit more about Insurance than most agents ;)

We have American based callers creating the leads. Same system our Medicare mentor used for years with success but we are just doing it on a massive scale. $10 each and some are even as low as $5 each.

So are people selling then f/f or on the phone,

I do DM for about that amount

Yeah Chaz, you can get some crazy returns on the dual mailers although I wouldn't build my entire business on them.

That being said I wholeheartedly believe that the FE lead most successful agents are already paying for is the single best lead for Medicare...especially MAPD. Learning how to compliantly convert the sale is another matter, but there's tons of money to be made once you know how.

Medicare is a game changer for sure! My wife won’t work next year and stay home with the family just because of those renewals. The hard part is just finding the setup that brings support and training. I had to figure it all out on my own, and I went broke trying to navigate the medicare market by myself. I love Peter’s approach because FE has the best lead for these plans and he has a great system to turn these into other streams of income. As long as it’s done compliantly, it is a beautiful business! Get cash flow going with an FE sale, then build wealth for later on with Medicare. Best of both worlds if you ask me! Thanks for sharing Brandon! Seems like folks are catching on.
