Obama Care Resource

Health and Human Services, in an effort to show MORE families receiving subsidies, is now using the 2014 Federal Poverty Levels at http://www.healthcare.gov .

The 2014 Federal Poverty Levels aren't yet released, but perhaps HHS has "insider" knowledge, since the Govt is all one big happy family.

The 2014 FPLevels are higher, which means that more people will qualify for premium assistance subsidies. Here's what's listed at Healthcare.gov for the 400% FPL..which is the highest income that qualifies for the premium subsidy.

Family of 400% FPL
1 $48,283
2 $65,167
3 $82,051
4 $98,935
5 $115,819
6 $132,703
7 $149,587

It goes up and beyond a family of 25, but I don't think health insurers can charge a premium beyond the 3rd child in 2014? But then again, a family at 400% FPL must pay 9.5% of their income in health premiums before any subsidy dollars are paid. So a larger family that's close to 400% of poverty might not see any $$$ from Uncle Sam. Same for a young person bumping the 400% FPL. Kind of confusing and I see this stuff every day! argh.

The Eternal Revenue Service has developed a new sub-site at IRS.gov that explains almost every aspect of the tax law as it pertains to the Affordable Care Act.

Here's the link: http://www.irs.gov/uac/Affordable-Care-Act-Tax-Provisions-Home

The simpler http://www.irs.gov/aca works too.

One thing I didn't know before scanning over the website is that health insurance companies will be required (starting in 2014) to send every insured family a detailed statement, every year, certifying the plan as having M.E.C., name/ssn of each individual covered on the plan, and the number of months each individual was covered. For insurers, this is yet another burden that weighs down the administrative component of the Medical Loss Ratio.

Yeah, and as we all know - this will really bring the price of insurance down to much more "affordable" levels! Yeah - cheaper than my cell phone bill! Ha!:nah:

Forbes has come out with a nice Interactive USA Map. You click on a state and a pop-up shows you what the average premium increase/decrease is from 2013 to 2014. This map will be updated as more states release their 2014 premiums.

AllenChicago you are a gold mine.

Thanks Rugerred. Just trying to keep us up-to-date. I post items to this thread and refer back to them often. Good to have it all in one place and we're entering a critical point in a once-in-a-lifetime (for health agents) opportunity. Every one of us can make a ton of money in 2014 if we stay focused on the important stuff.
