Replacing Business

Have I researched it? I wrote for LH for over 2 years. It's a farce. I believed in it too when I was fed the kool aid and drank it.

Ask Newby about the LH preneed guy that came into the funeral home trying to sign them up and Newby got on him about the FCGS pretending to be a preneed type thing and he told Newby is just a marketing "gimmick for Mexicans".

The president I was referring to is the president of the FCGS. I visited the headquarters and he told us all stright out that they would not do anything on a policy that was contestable.

Now the marketers for LH will say that's not true but they never opened their mouth when he said it.

Newby has had then refuse to even help with paperwork on a contestable policy brought into the funeral home.

I said before and will say again. I does have some value, although very little. But, if a person feels it has more value than I believe then they can buy it. They just don't have to buy an overpriced LH policy to go along with it.

But, let's go back, what value does it have? It will pay immediately on a policy that's not contestable. So what? Any funeral home in America can get paid on a non contestable policy within 24 hours. FCGS or not.

So, my question to you would be, have YOU researched it?

No I have not, but now I know the answer :) that is all I wanted. The fcgs is pretty cheap to purchase as a stand alone as well

Excuse me, but does a two year contestability clause mean anything to you all? And when you go around replacing policies based on price, it sends a message to the policy holder that their insurance is not important. It's just a matter of how much you pay for it. If its not in the client's best interest, leave it alone! Find those who need additional coverage and those who have no coverage. There are enough of those to go around.

I'm sorry but um.....huh?!?! Seriously? I'll be blunt. YES!!! If I can save the person money you're damn right I will replace it. Whether they had it a month or 3 years. You would rather them stay in a plan where you can save them money because that clause???

Dude...this type of thought process is just the start of how you approach a sale. You're thinking you have their best interest at heart when actually you are hurting them with that thinking.

When it comes to something like the FCGS, I see it as a HUGE value to both the agent and the client. Here's why.

For the client, whether it be Monu, Forethought or LH, it gives a nudge to preplan.

For the agent, there are many many ways to use it to close a better sale, keep more business on the books, over come opening and closing objections.

I see a lot of veteran agents don't really believe in these types of plans. They are used to selling just life insurance. And that's fine. But I would never sell another plan without a funeral plan along with it when it comes to selling FE. It just makes it a "true" final expense plan.

Unfortunately I see you many LH agents that are new, present the FCGS falsely. Just like in this Thread. I believe the agent wasn't thinking about going to the clients house himself. I think he was trying to state that the FCGS will. That's how I read it. I hear these stories a lot. It's bad training and a broke desperate agent clawing for a sale.

You are not 100% right. The fcgs will contact the funeral home on the beneficiaries behalf and make the arrangements as needed. Especially if their agent is no longer with the company.

They don't only help with the claim process they actually call the funeral home and plan the funeral. They will also help obtain the death certificates and contact social security to let them know the person died if they are receiving benefits. And make sure the funeral home has all the documentation.

No. They can not be involved in helping to obtain the original death certificates unless they have actual possession of the body. The funeral director that is managing the case is the only one that can file for the originals and he MUST have possession of the body. He also is the 1st contact to social security.

The only person who can finalize funeral arrangements is the legal next of kin. It goes in this order:
1. Spouse if there is one
2. All adult children equally if there are any
3. Parents if living
4. Full brothers and sisters equally
5. Half siblings
6. Cousins

The only way a third party could finalize the arrangements would be if the next of kin went before a judge and gave them the assignment of that right.

The only thing the FCGS can actually do is price gather of several funeral prices from various funeral homes if the family wants them to. Most families already have the funeral home selected and don't want to change.

So all the FCGS does is get pricing for the family? Pls tell me thats not the only reason LH agents push that like "yeah its well worth the $20-30 more a month"? Such BS if true!

They push it because they try to justify their rates with it. Anyone can do what the FCGS will do. Most just have the information to do so nor the will at the time of a loved ones passing.

It's interesting to note that even the LH pushers say it's beneficial when the agent that wrote the policy is no longer with the company. You think they might have some experience with that?

What a load of crap!!

Anyways, Im leaving for 2 appts in about 45min, then off to Vegas this afternoon....who am I betting on JD? Sorry about UK, not their yr! I like Miami tho to win it all I think.

Sidenote- My daughter is grad at Univ @ Albany this May & they play Duke Friday...Im hoping against hope they win, or at very LEAST, cover the spread!!

Any bet tips would be appreciated!!

When companies get desperate knowing there rates are the highest they try to create another revenue stream and to differentiate themselves.

It is LH lingo to the max, and to make sure the company can milk its customers anyway they can.:skeptical:

If I were betting I would bet on UL, dUKe or Miami. I hope they all lose but if I were laying down my money that's where it would be.

As for UK, I'm gald this season is over. This team was hard to watch and like even when they won. They were a bunch of candy asses that were exposed when Noel got hurt. He was the best player in the country and also the heart and soul of the team. I hope all of these guys are outta here for next season.

Hey JD, what do you know about W Kentucky? are they a viable upset threat? I agree about Miami, but have Louisville in the final 4, but there bracket is a bit harder.

I'm sure it does it's main purpose...get their mind off the price of the insurance and make them think they buying...(wait for it) ...MORE than an insurance policy.

Any agent can do MORE than the FCGS could ever do. Anyone can shop funeral homes. Anyone can show families where to buy Chinese or Mexican caskets for $250. Any agent can sit down with the funeral directer and explain the coverage and fill out the claim form.
