Senior Life Insurance

No what TD is saying is that she can't work for him because she is already talking with someone else and apparently the conversation has progressed far enough for her to make a decision. It wouldn't be right for TD to offer her a contract now and probably bad karma for him to even do so.

It would be like signing up for Amway and then your brother-in-law says "hey, sign up with me" when he should of already asked you first. Would be bad karma for you and him and just not right I guess.

Anyway if you don't work for a week you'll just blow through $450 worth of leads I guess.

So why can't you work with the manager of your choice? Might not be a good fit with the previous one. Again, property. This is an ownership mentality of agents. Too many IMOs/GAs/Companies/Agencies/etc. believe they OWN an agent. It couldn't be further from the truth. Unless you pay me a salary and give me benefits, you have no right to stop me from moving to another manager of my choice.

She still could. Depends on whether another manager would take her in that type of situation. That's why you have to make sure who you talk to before you do certain things. I'm just thinking some managers might not take her is all after she is already in talks. Some, like Greg perhaps might not even take her from the start because Greg is picky about who he brings on, at least that's what I heard.

It is one thing to refuse to contract her because you don't think she is a good fit for your agency, lacks potential, etc. But if its company policy that you can't contract her because she has already spoken with another manager, then she is being treated like a piece of property.

Mr. Newby,

I was thinking of selling in person as I thought a thin girl with healthy bazooms would go over better with some prospects face to face. :)

Seriously (OK, I was serious), what about a group called Equita? They work with many carriers but only offered 85 percent. I forgot to ask what their renewal percentage is.

The best place to sell FE in the country is in Missouri. You may move in with me while making the transition.

I think what he meant was that you have to stick with the SR life manager you have and can't move to another group within SR Life. You still are independent as far as working with other companies as long as you don't use their leads for other co's.

Why couldn't I move to whom ever I like. What if I just do not like the other or someone else offers me more? What are they going to do,fire me?

That can definitely "open some doors" easier for you with around 50% of the population. However with FE the decision maker on more than 70% of the sales is Grandma not Grandpa. SO it MAY not be your best angle.

I would suggest one of two options if you are selling face to face.

Option #1 Equita for the training and consistant leads plus belonging to a group which many agents need.

Option #2 Staying totally independent. If you already know what to do, you just contract direct with the companies you want and make the highest commission and renewal levels and buy your own leads. This is the best option for many but has the highest failure rate by far.

Senior Life is probably an OK option for phone sales but there is no reason I see to ever try to sell them face to face. You have much better options.

It isn't company policy that I know of and I know a little about this because I have talked to 4 people with SL and one of the swinging schlongs at the home office. What transpired in those conversations is directly related to what we are talking about.

The fact is if she were to sign up with say TD and then goes back to whomever and says she signed up with some guy on a forum then before you know it, there will be a few more recruiters here for SL. Bad karma or consequences of certain actions or whatever else you want to call it.

Also in something like Amway for instance, you just can't switch teams willy nilly. It wouldn't be right for those who recruited you or for you once you start to recruit. It screws up the whole matrix. I'm sure with SL that if one made a big enough stink about it one could switch but if you are living in an area with a manager already there who's team is producing, then you most likely will be placed under that manager. If you don't like it then go with someone else. Free world to sign up with whoever you want besides SL.

If you join the army and you don't like your captain it is SOL for you. It might not be a perfect system but it is the current system. :goofy:

Yes, but the army actually pays you and trains you. The typical manager does neither. Big difference.

Thanks Mr. Newby and to all who have replied (even though some of the replies were smarty pants answers). I have definitely learned a thing or two. I know I need training...scripts and all that. I also want to get the heck out of the house at least some of the time and not just sell by phone. That is where Senior Life has a leg up as I can do both field and phone sales.

Lots to absorb and think about.:err:
